Melissa is stable in the hospital, not dialating any more and the contractions are light. They're keeping her for two days but if all goes well she'll be home after that (and on bedrest) and we can hopefully keep them in there for a few more weeks.

Big Smiles!

Brad

Wishing your family the best :)

I wish nothing but the best for you and the mother to be. Good luck and god bless. :thumbsup

kelly 07-13-2004 09:52 PM

Good luck guys, the docs can do wonders these days!

When she comes home make sure she stays on full bedrest (I was a nightmare wanting to be up and doing things), I had 3 long, boring weeks of it and then my son was delivered at 36 weeks a whopping 9lbs 3oz :winkwink:

titmowse 07-13-2004 09:57 PM

don't let those doctors scare you Brad. they have to say the shitty stuff in the spirit of full disclosure. it will all be fine.

twins come early. my little princess was born at 27 weeks. she's 17 now and doing great.

just keep the hope. :thumbsup

Mike Okitch 07-13-2004 11:14 PM

I'll have a word with the big guy upstairs for you and your family :thumbsup

Damn, I just saw this thread.

Mishi and I both send all the best wishes to you and the family, Brad, and we're very relieved to see that things are looking up. Keep us posted and know that you are all in our thoughts.

And ... we better be seeing some baby pics when they're born! You and Melissa have proven you make damned cute kids. :)

Claws 07-14-2004 01:31 AM

Best wishes to you and the family.

may the deity of your choice bless your family

Bigjohn 07-14-2004 01:58 AM

Thanks for keeping us updated Brad, I know you have more important things to worry about. It's good to hear that the docs have it handled :thumbsup

Looks like she's totally stable but they're going to keep her for two more nights at the hospital, I think. I have to figure out now how I'm going to arrange care at the house for her and Elizabeth since she's on total bedrest until they're born. Lots of decisions to make!

Thanks again everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers, seems to have worked this time around!

:thumbsup

Brad

wow...good to hear things are improving, must be a very stressful time for you.

Best wishes and thoughts your way.

Consider hiring a nanny/housekeeper to be there with her during the day or when you're not there... They are pretty reasonable if you look around for the right person. I was kind of in the same boat during the pregnancy with my last daughter, but with an extra pair of helping hands, bedrest isn't too bad :)

Got some very bad news this morning. They had found a small hole in one of her heart chambers a couple months ago and finally we're about 4 diagnostic tests into it today when they did a transesophogeal echocardiogram to get a more accurate picture. Nothing is certain yet, we're going to get a second opinion and consult again with the cardiologist and her OB but the heart doctor said that Melissa will need to have open heart surgery to fix it, that they can't go in through a vein to make the repair because of the defect's location. We don't know enough to know whether or not they are going to want to do this before or after the birth.. I'm just praying that this might not be necessary at all although the way he explained it this morning the congenital defect (from birth) must be repaired. We're not jumping to any conclusions, we have a lot more information to get and confirm with other professionals. (sigh)

:sadcrying

jennym 07-15-2004 07:44 AM

Brad,

So sorry to hear that. But, try to keep your spirits up, and your wife's. I know a few people who have had open heart surgery, and they came through very well, and are healthy. Docs are amazing these days! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Screaming 07-15-2004 07:46 AM

Tala 07-15-2004 07:46 AM

SexkeyCraig 07-15-2004 08:59 AM

Hey Brad,
Best of luck, for you and especially your wife. Keep us posted.

jhauser 07-15-2004 09:00 AM

Everyday counts at this point every 24 hours is another blessing.

Peaches 07-15-2004 09:08 AM

Damn, Brad :( I know she and the babies will get the best care you can get for them and you have lots of love and good wishes from us!

TDF 07-15-2004 09:12 AM

my prayers are with your family

=^..^= 07-15-2004 09:13 AM

I will keep you all in my prayers
just remember twins usually come early and babies can survive outside the womb form as early as 24 weeks old - so 30 is okay
The fact that Melissa has had the heart defect form brith is kinda reassuring - she's come this far with it - so she's a trooper!
I know you'll all pull thru

lot of love!!! :thumbsup
