She already told me she hasn't seen a dog since she got there. That's cause it's like owning a chicken... not many Americans would have an animal they eat as a pet.

I actually ate a bite of cat there and snake in the Mekong Delta a couple of years ago. Didn't taste like chicken

I don't think i can live out there, but what do i know. Ihave never been there so can't really say.

Yep...that would be the cost to feed a family with nothing but rice and wild herbs and grass.

You can eat on 10 a day but you won't be able to stand it. You won't be able to get simple shit like hash browns and pancakes and fried chicken and slushies and shit like that...All you'll get is RICE...You can have some fish here and there but it's RICE...RICE....RICE...

One thing that was really interesting is that they are a totally organic country. Because of all the agent orange...they are highly sensitive to having chemicals being sprayed on crops...and have banned them. Not sure if true but a guide told me that and only less than 5 years ago did they finally get of all the lingering residue...of agent orange on the land.

I went to a new remote border crossing up the Mekong Delta to cross into Cambodia (it had only been open a few months and was only the 2nd border crossing with Cambodia). I lost my Exit Visa and for whatever reason the Communists take these things seriously, and I was told I may have to backtrack 4 days to the main border to deal with the situation so my boat driver said he would try to talk with the border guard on my behalf and we worked out a deal that I was to buy them a carton of cigarettes at the stand there and they would look the other way as I crossed into Cambodia.
