    Can Life Get Any Better?

    So, I live up in the mountains. My house is situated on 16 acres. No neighbors anywhere in site. It's VERY quiet up here.

    My driveway is almost half a mile long. It winds up my property to the house. If someone happens to decide to visit uninvited I can hear them coming.

    Today I installed a wireless router. I have Direcway High Speed Satellite Access. This wireless router allows me to sit by the pool and surf the 'net on high speed.

    Since I'm in the middle of nowhere I can sit completely naked if I want. I hate clothes.

    Please tell me, does life get much better than this??

                                                                                              And it gets REALLY cold in the winter. Nah, I'll stay right here, in the mountains. With only a short drive to my office, which is located right in downtown Chico within a few feet of the college. Chico State was the number 2 party school in the USA according to Playboy. Fallen from the number one spot just a few years ago.

I believe it was just last year when the number 2 rating came out, and is still current. I think Santa Barbara is number 1.

I have tried several times to bring my laptop out to the pool area to bask in the sun while I get some work done...but for the life of me, no matter what I do (switch positions, put the umbrella up) I can't see the stupid screen. So much for that idea =(

                                                                                                                                                                                  Do you have the 6000 series modem? I know you have DirecPC. The 6000 series does make a difference. It's still not perfect, of course, but is getting better. It's definitely not bad for those times I don't want to drive 30 minutes to the office to use DSL.

                                                                                                                                                                                          I think today?s physics means that there will always be a latency problem with a satellite Internet connection. What about land based wireless? Are you line of site to any providers? In the rural areas of Middle America, this is growing in popularity. Places where DSL and Cable are not available.

But here are a few photos of it that I took when we were out looking at houses and trying to decide what we wanted to buy next.

                                                                                                                                                                                              The place is a little over 3,000 square feet, on 16 acres. It obviously has to have a well and septic out in the boonies. This place has two septics and two 2,500 gallon water storage tanks. It also has 1,000 gallons of propane storage. That's nice because it has one wood stove and one propane heating source.

It's only single lane in some places, though traffic travels in two directions (what little traffic there is):

                                                                                                                                                                                                      Just 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 3,000 square feet. But the 16 acres of privacy make up for it. It's so quiet up here!
