PC's better than Macintosh?

What do you think, PC vs. Mac, for an Adult Webmaster?

I think PC's are better than Macs for the following reasons:

PC's have --
Two mouse buttons (more mouse commands)
More software titles
More stability

Mac's have --
The opposite of above
Pretty case colors

I just read that the Linus Torvalds, the inventor of Linux, thinks that the new Mac OS X is stupid.

Hasn't the PC/Mac dichotomy lost its relevance by now?

PC's are more stable than MACs??
Last time I remember, MAC owned
PC's on upgradeability and stability.

As for which is best, MACs are better for audio and video work (RISC dominates) and PC's take over the rest. Unix/Linux are best for servers.

I ran this exact same thread about 2 weeks ago. Everyone agreed that MAC sucked.

And corpsie, I disagree. Audio and video used to be better, but I don't think it's superior anymore.

I know of a few fx houses her in LA that have switched from MAC to PC because the software ran exactly the same if not better on a PC.

If the software runs the same, then you look at personal preference, such as:
ease of use, how easy is it to upgrade, layout, compatibility with other software, and maybe even the PC mouse can make a difference.

If they run the exact same, then PC seems to be the logical way to go. The wheel mouse offered by PC has cut my work time down simply because it's quicker. The fact that I can right click and bring up menus also is a huge time saver.

I also know that in FX we can run puppets on PC which we wouldn't be able to do without windows software. Controlling a puppet via PC = Thousands saved, which in turn = saings for production, which in turn guarantees us a job.

PC is better.

RISC isn't better for video.

Reduced instruction set.

CISC is better, they added new instructions for video, that's why all the games are on windows. Thats what MMX was about.

Peace,

I would say that a RISC processor with multimedia instuctions is the better.

CISC = complex instruction set computer--the machine instructions aren't hardwired but coded in microcode and have to be interpreted during execution. That's an extra layer of interpretation that slows the machine down and complicates the overall architecture.

FireWire. Fuck firewire, If I hear another person say firewire, I'm going to strangle my boss' brother.

He is completely sold on firewire.

"It's like having a Ferarri in rush hour traffic", I say.
At least for our work computers anyway.

The crappy macs at work are the equievelant of Pentium II at 300mhz. We would peak the processor speed before the firewire reached it's potential. What's the point?

There is no way that we would notice a difference.
So then why am I telling you this...
