tech question

One of my home computers is acting up and dont have a clue what may be....when i turn it on it takes like 3 minutes to boot up and that just started happenning yesterday...power supply going out? i havent installed anything software or hardware and as far as i know is clean from virii/spyware...

Usually virus (Worm) does that.
Or you have problems with Video card, maybe video drivers was corrupted. Reinstall video drivers or the better solution to reinstall the system. Windows XP (if you have) usually should be reinstalled one time in years(half year is also recommended) for best perfomance.

perhaps that could be it...because when i turn on the "monitor self test" comes up....and after like 3 mins boots up

Get norton antivirus installed, reboot in to safe mode and do a full scan.

Sounds like the hard drive is about to go...

during the 3 minute boot...does it sit at the BIOS screen?
