No. That honor belongs to Takeru "The Tsunami" Kobayashi, the world famous speed eater, for crushing the competition by eating 50 1/2 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Everybody knows that. Look it up.

He just beat his own record this weekend with 53 and 1/2. I can't explain why, but once I got to ESPN, I couldn't turn it off.

Buster Douglas a 41-1 underdog beating Mike Tyson.

The term "upset" in sports by the way comes from the horse Upset, a 100-1 underdog, handing the legendary race horse Man o War his only loss of his career.

The term "upset" came from when ManOWar was an incredible favorite, but it was beat by a longshot horse named......"Upset"

early 1900's

Bavaria vs Manchester Utd UEFA Champions League Cup Final
2001 (or maybe 2000, sorry donot remember it clearly)
Bavaria 've been leading 1:0 all the game long , but Manchester managed to score 2 goals in additional time - it took 2 minutes for Bavaria to lose

That wasn't an upset. Argentina was a much better team than England that generation.

You forget that Maradona also scored what Pele considered the greatest goal in World Cup history when Diego avoided 8 tackling Englishmen and a 60 meter sprint to score the game winning goal.

Greatest upset in history was North Korea over Italy in the 1966 World Cup.

Miracle on Ice is the greatest upset in sports history.

before the 1980 Olympics if Vegas had put a line up for the Americans to win the Gold Medal it would have been 1000-1, nah, even worse than that.

Buster Douglas over Tyson
BC over Miami (Flutie Pass)
Patriots over Rams in superbowl (couple years ago)

1989 Michigan Wolverines NCAA basketball team that won the national championship with stunning last second wins against Illinois and Seaton Hall. To say more about this team... Steve Fisher was filling in for the head coach who was fired just before the tournament started and led them to the NCAA championship. They entered the tournament as a 7th seed.

Good examples of great endings but not really huge upsets. The BC/Miami game was less than a touchdown spread. I remember this clearly because I lost money on that game but was going to win but for the ending. Patriots were about a 2 touchdown dog, again not the biggest upset compared to things like 100-1 underdogs winning.

I would say that this is definitely one of the biggest. USA hockey is weak today nevermind back in 1980 and the Russians have always been awesome; though I don't know what the hell happened to team Canada...

Yes but you're ignoring the fact that his ilegal goal was the one that put us out. England were good in that tournament too, but in the end it wasn't down to skill, as it should be - it was down to Maradonna cheating.

The best Canadian players were busy playing in the NHL. Pros were not allowed to compete in the Olympics back then.
