photoshop is such a bitch, I swear it seems like I cant get anything to work with it. I know, I should learn it... Ive got the banners down pretty good with it

Other good ones are : Corel and Free Hand (depending on what you're designing). Quark is great for print ads. Paintshop Pro is fun to dink around in, but I wouldn't recommend it personally.

I use photoshop, but have never really tried Illustrator. Must grab a copy and see what happens....

Illustrator and FreeHand are the best options. But nothing beat pencils and paper for brainstorming!
