    Is The Old Saying True?? "Black Men Don't Tip?"

    A friend of mine (who will remain nameless) just told me he was getting a lapdance ($30) and after that lapdance the stripper asked for a tip. My friend reluctantly gave her a .50 tip and she freaked out on him.

    She said to him don't worry about it "I'll get my money from the white customers"

    Now this friend of mine is black and I want to know if the old saying is true? I don't want to start a racist thread but are black men bad tippers?

              Uhm, did you ask your friend why he only tipped $0.50??

              It seems common sense to tip more... especially for a lapdance.

                                      I was in Vegas a few years back and I asked a girl to do 2 songs for my buddy and then 2 songs for me.

                                      So I hand her the $80 for 12 minutes of 'work' and she says "what, no tip?"

I would have to say that black people tipped about the same as everyone else. If I had to go with who does not tip well... I would have to do that by sex and age. The worst tippers on Earth in my opinion are middle aged women. They are also the grumpiest!

I had never heard the rumor that black people don't tip well until this time. I was sitting in the bar waiting for my women to get off work. When she did, she sat at the bar with me and she was all pissed off. Her last table was a huge table of 25 black people.

                                                                                                              Most places to eat require a 20% tip or more for large groups. It gets added on to the bill automatically. When they got the bill they asked about the tip and then they complained to the manager. The bill came to about 375 as I recall and they wanted to leave an 8 dollar tip. She told me that blacks are notorious for being bad tippers. I just couldn't believe that.

                                                                                                              The next day at work I had to ask my buddy JC. He was a black guy. Very professional and intelligent guy. I said, "So what's up with black people not being good tippers." We would always joke around about race issues any time a white guy did something stupid, he'd look at me and say something like, "What's up with you white people?" Any ways, he said that he was a good tipper. "So on a 275 dinner bill then how much would you tip?" I asked. He said, "10 bucks."

                                                                                                              I looked at him like he just shit on my shoe. I said the acceptable standard is like 15%, you are a cheap ass aren't you. We laughed about it of course but it really blew me away that he was absolutely clueless to the 15% rule. He couldn't even begin to comprehend leaving that big a tip. In his eyes, paying anything over the actual amount was a good thing and that they shouldn't expect a tip and when they get one, they should be happy.

                                                                                                              Just different ways of thinking I suppose. I don't think it?s intentional on the part of some black people to be cheap, just for some it's that they see things differently.

                                                                                                              But on a side note I know white people, Mexicans and Asians that are all cheap tippers. I do find it interesting that if you ask any waitress what race are the worst tippers though that they will all say black people. I still find it hard to believe that it's so bad that waitresses everywhere will say the same thing. But, I've dated a few waitress and bartenders and even a stripper and at one point or another they have all been pissed off by low tipping black people.

                                                                                                              We did a study in college on stereo-types once and the truth and or lies behind them. It's a very interesting study.

                                                                                                                      I guess what some people don't get is that most waiters are only getting like $3.09 and need those tips to have some kind of respectable hourly wage. I've had really bad tippers of all races though. I have had some black people tip me huge and I have had some who have only given me a few cents. I still have to say that this is true of every race. Again, the worst customers I have ever dealt with are middle aged women on their lunch break. They are mostly lousy tippers, always foul, and most prone to throwing tantrums.

                                                                                                                      Best tippers included:

                                                                                                                      Businessmen on trips (for some reason they always throw around loot and want to discuss politics).

                                                                                                                      Guys on dates (they always want to impress the girl).

                                                                                                                      Parties of college aged girls (fun to flirt with and usually very good tippers).

                                                                                                                      Old couples (I really get along best with older people -- they also tip well and remember to bring you presents on holidays).
