just goes on to push the issue even farther that there is no equal for these guys. Schumacher and Ferrari can decide to go to a 4 stop race after the 2nd stop and still win.. That would be the kiss of death for any other team but they pull it off with seconds to spare.

Then Barrichello's last cornor move to pull third out of his ass just tops it all off. I don't' think there will ever be another driver team combo that will produce the wins this team has. Normally when one guy dominates racing like this it gets old and boring but Shumi always seems to make it exciting.

With Ferrari being that good. Alonso would whoop his ass in a Ferrari.

I have been an F1 fan for more than 30 years, but if I'm honest for maybe half that time there have been few races with more than a spark of interest in them.

When the stakes were more modest, the cars were - usually - more evenly matched. And although absolute speeds were lower, the ability of cars to stay on the track was also a lot less.

But as Max Moseley said when he announced his retirement recently, F1 has made many team owners billionaires. To paraphrase him, that's despite them not being businessmen, just that however much money they throw at winning, there are still millions left over. The result has been that development cycles for these cars is now 3+ years and it's very rare for more than one team to have its cars putting out peak performance in a single season. Especially since there are only 3-4 teams spending enough money to ever be really competitive.

The result has been, rain and exceptional conditions apart, processions rather than races. F1 is still a special sport, but nowhere near as exciting as it was through the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Everyone always tries to claim it's because the Ferrari is so good.. But how many of you so easily forget Ferrari hadn't won a race in like 20 years before Schumacher came on board. The man is a machine of extreme talent. Put him in a Jordan, put him in a Williams or a Renault and he will win. It doesn't matter what he drives he has the unique ability to bring a team to the top.

He has proven this fact by taking two losing teams to the championship Both Ferrari and the most under powered car at the time Benetton-Ford. Where were you guys when he was kicking ass in the only v-8 powered car? He seemed to win two of his championships in that car, where are they now that he is gone?

How come no one bitched when Williams had the fastest car but Shumi still beat them on a regular basis? There have been several other teams that have had faster cars than the Ferrari only to be beaten by better tactics or less mistakes by Shumi and his team.

It's not the car that wins a F-1 race, it's the complete package of the team. Shumi is an expert at putting together the best team for his needs and is backed by excellent racing strategy.

If it was the car that was so good, then why did Barrichello have to do such a last ditch attempt of a pass to get third. Jarno Trulli in the Renault was faster than Barrichello and should have never lost third. But a nice piece of driving by Barrichello took it away from him.. But I guess that was the car aswell, Ferrari must have a special program in their software called pass.exe or winrace.exe.

How long has it been since a Ferrari engine blew? I rest my case. Without a doubt, Ferrari has the best car in the championship this year. They've consistently had the best, or one of the top 2 or 3 cars for the last 4 or 5 years. There's no doubt that Schumacher is an awesome driver. Anyone that denies that is an idiot. He proved how good he was with Beneton.

But the fact that he's a great driver doesn't mean he's the BEST driver, and it doesn't mean none of the other current drivers couldn't do it. I honestly think that Alonso could beat Schumacher if he was in a Ferrari. He's the Rossi of F1, only he got put on a Suzuki. Okay well that's a bit harsh. His car is good, but it's not as good. Simple as that.

Schumacher could make things really interesting by making a move to a less competitive team, the way Rossi did in MotoGP. That would bring some huge excitement back into the sport. Then again, you can't blame him. It's a status quo that anyone would be happy to keep.

Ferrari hadn't won a race in 20 years? Really? Are you on crack?

I tend to agree with you. But it's ironic that Enzo Ferrari once said that the driver didn't matter: only the car.

yea but just look where they were before Shumi came along kinda proves his statement as being wrong.

But all in all I think people shouldn't bitch about Ferrari and Shumi being so good, they should bitch that the other teams haven't raised it up a notch to beable to compete. F-1 is about the best drivers and teams, they need to either shit or get off the pot. Second place is just the first loser.
