What method do they use to ban people? IP addresses? Email addresses?

They filter out the songs, then they ban user names I think. Not sure about IP addresses.
You can still use Napster with Napigator! Woohoo! And I'm using LimeWire. It's a pretty cool program. |

my buddy just got this pretty cool program that changes all the names to all the *.mp3 files into some wierd shit.. like if the file name was "i am a homosexual - gayboys.mp3" the program would convert the filename into something like "d hs a whomwehyal - agvtiw.mp3" and the built in mp3 player lists of all the original filenames so that you still know what the file was. now if someone else is looking for "i am a homosexual - gayboys.mp3" they put that into thier own convertor, they get "d hs a whomwehyal - agvtiw.mp3" and then just paste that into the search coloumn and if someone has the convertor on their PC and the song, then they can grab it. the guy said that these convertors are going to be popping up all over the place pretty soon.. sounds kinda complicated but im sure it will improve and people would use it... personally ill just go out and spend the 11.95 on the CD and save my ass some time..

NightLizard is right, NAPIGATOR KICKS ASS !! Check it out - http://www.napigator.com
It's great because it LET'S YOU USE NAPSTER, but it just connects it to different servers, actually they're MUCH bigger and faster than Napsters servers, so you don't miss out. Hell, last night there was 9.1 MILLION files on the server that I was on. I NEVER seen that many files on Napster before, not even half that. I think that the most I've seen on Napster was like 3.5 million at one time. There was even 30,000+ users on the server also. The thing is that there's a BUNCH of servers like that that you can choose from and like I say, there's MUCH better pings on there, so you can download stuff faster. Give it a shot and let me know what ya think. Don't be going through the Napster servers trying to find ways around their filtering, jump over to Napigator and use your Napster program on these other servers without worrying about them going down or being filtered, well at least for now anyways, he he he. They've been banning IP's for awhile, a bunch of friends of mine were burnt after the first big Metallica blow out.
I'm into burning full albums so I cruise the newsgroups, there is tons of good stuff in there. The Warez ubb boards are good for finding ftp sites too. Burtman ------------------ Thumbspot TGP |

MrBrian, you don't have to worry about that because Napigator is a SEPARATE company than Napster, as well are the servers that you connect to, so if Napster bans you, you can get around it.
That does bring up a good point though. I wonder how Napigator logs on your identity. They don't go through the Napster system, so if Napster bans you, the Napigator servers aren't gonna now or care about it, they'll just log you on. I wonder if it just pulls up your id and that's it. Anyways, give it a try, it's an excellent program. |
