NASTYDOLLARS and TOPBUCKS link theft - AFFILIATES MUST READ

ok because these are shifty we likely wont get all of them , but i think we can shut these guys down the easy way..

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=321013

First we need to find someone who still has the spyware loaded thats changes the link codes for nastydollars and topbucks.

http://www.cumfiesta.com/main.htm?id=gfy&p=clean

Open that link and see if the affiliate id code "gfy" changes.

If it does , come back and confirm this, and i will make several examples of link codes , and we will find one that doesnt get changed, then i will post the code here..

Im sure the MAJORITY of nd traffic comes from users who frequent gfy at one time or another.

If nobody bites , i'll infect a test machine later this week and do it myself. someone drop a link to the spyware that does this.

We're combing through our data and log files looking for evidence of this sort of practice as well, and of course we will terminate any account found to be hijacking traffic by any means.

If you ever see a specific TopBucks ID being 'swapped in' in such a fashion, please send the info to [email protected] so we can look into it more closely.

Thanks!

Are you looking into a way to get the ref code to credit the rightfull owner ??

Its nice that your doing this , and will cutdown on this crud in the future , but it would be nice if you also came up with a simple solution, (i.e. alternate link codes ? )

if you got a third party domain to route the links , we could all be cutting these guys out right now, as it stands you might cut out the webmasters , but now the sales get no ref code

very simple solution at the affiliates end.

Get a new domain www.link-transfer.com

make new temp link codes.

i.e. http://www.link-transfer.com/transfe...;blowref=12345

Thanks for letting me know , but we realise that most webmasters aren't going to be infected wih spyware, were looking for someone who has the spyware active.

Absolutely - we defnitely want to do what we can to make sure that the right affiliate gets credit for the sales. I'll be perfectly honest and tell you straight out that I'm not nearly technically savvy enough to speculate as to how exactly we would go about doing this. Fortunately, the folks in our programming and sys admin departments are a lot more tech-inclined that am I, and we've got them on the case.

Here's a cut & paste from what I wrote in biskoppen's thread.

Quote:
Well one way sponsors with multiple sites could help ward off the url rewritng is by generating unique linking codes, and run them all through one domain.

For example:
Old link
http://www.boysfirsttime.com/main.htm?id=biskoppen

Spyware just has to match "http://www.boysfirsttime.com/" in the url and rewrite with the authors affiliate code.

New link
http://www.nastydollars.com/JGG483gfeTGUE834754

Spyware author has no idea what site it goes to unless he visits each and every unique URL. Any rewriting done after the surfer visits the unique URL will be easy to catch.

What this would do is discourage the authors from doing simple affiliate code replacement since they have no idea which site to target, someone may even want to get together with a lot of sponsors and start a centralized linking repository, because the more sites you have listed the less inclined they would be to try. They could still hijack the traffic no doubt, but at least they couldn't easily target the same niche.
It would be a decent solution until sponsors start implementing a post-back system of some type, then all hits could be verified as getting to the correct linking code.
