For Kerry to win, he'd have to pick someone so unexpected but with such charisma that people wouldn't mind and not give the tabloids time enough to smear.

If Kerry did pick Hillary, sure he 'should' win BUT logic has nothing to do with it. The elections are controlled by underhanded means as the last one showed clearly.
