How to make doorway pages?

OK, i want to make some doorway pages for my newly acquired domains. The idea being to get some search engine traffic through the doorways to my site (duh!).

Anyway, if my domain is: http://www.whatever.com,
are my doorway pages http://www.whatever.com/doorway1.html, http://www.whatever.com/doorway2.html, etc?

Hey babe....... here is a little tool where you can make them all at one time without all the hassles.... took me about 20 minutes from start to uploading 74 doorways.

give it a shot, and you don't have to have a sponsor account with anyone, it's free.... you put the info in, the script makes the pages and zips them, emails them to you.... and voila........ upload them, link the directory and you are done.

I know this isn't answering you directly but it will save you the time of doing it by hand.

You would want to set up a hallway page that links to your main page and all your doorway pages. You can then put all these pages in a directory so you would have www.whatever.com/directory/hallway.html and then www.whatever.com/directory/doorway1.html , www.whatever.com/directory/doorway2.html, etc.

Use each doorway page to target one keyword phrase that is related to your main page. So if your page is about amateurs, one doorway could target "asian amateurs", another "amateur teens". etc.

For a simple formula you can have approximately 200 words of text on each doorway page with your keyword phrase appearing anywhere between 5 and 10 times. If you want you can even link all your doorway pages plus your main page and your hallway page from each doorway page. You can do this by using 1 X 1 transparent gifs. This will increase your link popularity plus an SE spider will pick up all your pages just by spidering one. But you still want to submit your main page, your hallway page and your doorway pages to the SEs individually since you don't want to rely on the spiders.

Also, if your main goal (and I assume it is ) is to get traffic to your main page, you want to place the link to your main page as high up on the doorway page as possible - preferable right after the body tag.

Finally, in the URL for each doorway page, place your keyword phrase so for example, the URL of the page targeting "asian amateurs" would be www.whatever.com/directory/asian_amateurs.html - this will help you out in the search engines that give credit to keyword phrases appearing in the URL.

I just posted the same question on the PC board. I tried that free one quicly the other day and I thought that the pages It made looked really bad. Maybe it was me.
I guess my question is, after you make them do you then edit them to polish them up a little? By this I mean adding banners etc.
It would be great to see some examples of doorway pages that people use.

here is one of mine Burtman..... I just did a batch replace and changed them all to better fit the colors on my site is all I did........ it took me about 20 minutes to edit them all...... someone told me to put like an ad or something on them for a sponsor but I haven't had the time to do it yet.... but this is what I have done with them.

Thanks Tam, greatly appreciated. I thought that I was missing something that was all. I guess I make a bunch up like that, upload them to a dir, submit that dir and ref. that dir on a few other pages the robots and spiders should pick them up at some point?

Burtman, I would submit each doorway page individually instead of waiting for the link page to be deep spidered - just be careful you don't submit too many at a time - 10/day should be fine (5 if you want to be really safe)

Burtman and rhizome, I've had much better success when the spiders picked up my doorway pages by themsleves. It seems as if pages are ranked slightly lower when submitted individually.

you are much better off with one good gate, rather than 100 shitty ones... and my feeling is after doing this for a long time, is that there is a threshold 100, 200 whatever doorways per domain before they loose rank as spam.

If you do a small change to each page prior to resubmitting, they often rank a little better. So in otherwords, if the page is for a popular search term and the robot sees the same thing as the last time, the little spam light may go on in the algorithm and your page might get bumped down a notch or two

once you get good you should cloak your pages
