The Big Lebowski / 9-11 connection:

I came upon this article at www.toolband.com >

THE BIG LEBOWSKI CONSPIRACY?
This one is for the SiljMonster, seaweed-festooned queen of Malibu?s Paradise Cove and my vote for most likely to succeed in her film school (even though she missed the possible ?The Big Lebowski Conspiracy?")

Let me start by saying that I am probably wrong about this. Okay. On Camella?s suggestion I did a Google search, but drew a blank. Maybe I typed in the wrong keywords, but considering the one?s I did, surely something would have come up on the search engine. If I?m right, I find it very hard to believe that no one else has discovered this, especially a film student or conspiracy nut. Readers will have to pause their dvd and look closely to see if what I?m seeing is really what I?m seeing. Of course, even if I?m right, it?s all just a coincidence. It has to be, right?

This is the kind of thing that happens via a unique perichoresis, such as entering a parallel dimension after finding the two separate halves of different broken Tool lenticular keychains that fit precisely together. Only, all I had for travel from one dimension to another was a couple of glasses of red wine and a can of Modelo fished out of the sandy silver Coleman.
After checking out Butcher at Estrofest on Wednesday night, while watching ?The Big Lebowski? on my VCR with one of my "special lady friends", I noticed that in the scene where we?re first introduced to Jeff Bridges? character, Jeffery Lebowski (I mean, ?The Dude?), as he writes a check for 69 cents at the check-out counter in Ralphs, the date he writes on the check appears to be Sept 11, 1991. At the same time, we hear then President George Bush stating that ?This will not stand?? ?This aggression will not stand? (referring to Saddam Hussein?s invasion of Kuwait). Sept 11, 1991 would be exactly 10 years before the 911 terrorist attacks on America with its Kuwait connection. The film itself was made several years before the attack, so with both the date written on the check and the words of George Bush Sr., I thought this was a ?coincidence? worthy of those of a conspiratorial bent, ESPECIALLY keeping in mind the plot of the film itself. Am I right? Am I right?.. Or did I, in fact, temporarily enter another dimension?

My daughter recently informed me that all of her friends in high school referred to me as "the Dude." My son confirmed this.

Guess I need to see the movie again . . . has been a while.

I guess my daughter was at a bar watching the Lakers playoffs, and ran into an old schoolmate. They asked her if THe Dude was there or not. My son said all the high school kids in El Segundo knew who The Dude was.

I only saw parts of the movie several years ago, guess I should go buy it

Nice coincidence!

In the simpsons episode where Homer has to retrieve his car from the world trade center, a bum tells Lisa, "send it to Jesus, care of the Pentagon"
