Negative Calories Diet

Anyone have any results, tried it before?

The concept:
Eat as MUCH as you want, lose weight.

The catch:
You can only eat as much as you want from a certain list of foods (being vegetables and fruits form what I can find).

The science:
Eating only foods where the process of eating them burns more calories than the food contains, means your body has to get its calories elsewhere....so burns the stored fat in your body.

The test:
I will try this diet for 2 weeks and let you know my results. I will keep my drinking level and exercise levels the same, so as to not affect the outcome. I will stock my hosue with these foods only, however I will also eat some type of meat/protein once a day.....just cuz its yummy and I need some protein

I'll start probably on Tuesday, expect a report every few days.

no its like celery is 5 calories but it takes 7 calories for the body to use it. So in theory if you were on a desert island and only had celery to eat you could starve to death on a full stomach.

Nope because all the foods DO contain calories. There is no such thing as a food containing less than 0 calories.

However, let's say a food contains 100 calories but it takes 150 calories for your body to burn it, you are losing 50 calories.

Sounds like this vegetable soup thing to me, yes, it's true, but it's a really hard diet. My girlfriend did it a year ago, after a few days you can't really stand the smell of vegetables any more and you are farting around all day...good idea to combine it with some protein, this way it becomes something like a low fat, low carb and low calories combo. Good luck !

High in fiber? What veggies are like that?
I can't see any fruit being on the list.

Celery and cabbage will get very old very fast.

There are close to 100 items listed.

Some fruits include: apples, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, canteloupe, pineapple, oranges, lemons....

Some vegetables include: tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, garlic, onions....

So with the list you can still make quite a few combinations. I"m thinking salad with grilled chicken and vinegar/garlic on it (chicken will be the meat for that day, vinegar I love and it contains 0 calories)...

Anyhow if I only purchase these foods when I do groceries for the next week, I really can't eat anything else in my house as it won't be there

I knew a guy who spent an extra *3 hours* a day planning/preparing special diet meals, and he was miserable all day because he hated the food.

When I suggested that he just fast-walk around the block for *1/2 hour* a day and eat reasonable portions of "normal food" to achieve the same thing, he said that it would take too much time

If it shows some nice results, I will not go back to eating the same junk.....I'll balance it more (ie. still eat some junk but throw in some of those fruits & vegetables to balance it).

When I was younger I was overweight and it was causing some health problems so my dad started us (him and me) on a vegetable soup diet. All you could really eat was this soup consisting of cabbage, carrots, and some other vegetables. The third day you could have a potato, the fifth day you could have some meat... something like that.

Anyway, it was brutal hell. I was starving every minute of the day, no matter how much soup I ate. My stomach was in knots all the time. The third day or so I couldn't take it anymore because I was in such pain, it was killing my stomach.

I don't care what anyone says, I don't believe in diets like this and seriously believe they can have adverse effects on the body. This is not good for you. The body needs it's nutrients to function properly.

Want to lose weight? Eat healthy. Exercise. Cut out unnecessary sugars.

Cheating will always come back to bite you in the ass. These diets are cheating.

At any rate it is two weeks. It definately won't reach "killing myself" in that timeframe.

It's not....I said above I'll still eat it because its tasty and I don't want to cut out protein and fat completely.

It will lessen the effects of the diet to a tiny degree I suspect, but nothing major as it will just lessen the loss from the other foods.

Got any URL or something ??? My grandfather had a very bad healt and he went on a diet he never left for one meal. Hes 80 and he can still do pushups .

Ok let's put it this way:

I eat around the 2000 calories one should in a day and exercise few hours 3x a week. I got a few lbs I'd like to lose, mostly due to drinking and eating junk sometimes.

I was losing this fine by upping my exercise (that being lots of sex), until recently where I'm dating a girl who's a virgin now.

EIther way, you've expressed your opinions, I'm trying it regardless.

a pound of fat is 3500 calories.... do the math. you will lose about 1 pound of body weight a day. approx 1/2 from fat. 1/2 will be lost muscle.

what will that prove? concentration camps were a good idea? Ethiopia is on to something?

Why then do some cultures support the idea of 'fasting'? Wouldn't that be much much worse.

Fasting has been proven to cleanse the body of toxins and plenty of healthy people 'fast' maybe once or twice a year, for upto a week at a time.

This is far from being that....

Well, it doesn't seem impossible. Especially if celery and other veggies do burn more calories than they're worth, I'd like proof though. Just gotta eat protein powders, and vitamines to keep healthy.

if someone shows me a reliable site/article about this shit I can think it further. Not that I'm going to try this, I love meat too much. I just wanna know more about it. All google has are feeder/spam sites to some damn e-book(s).

True.....I've never done any other diets and don't intend to try any other diets.

This one however, you don't have any 'daily plan', you don't have to count any calories, you don't have to watch portions. You just eat as much as you want as long as its from those foods.

The part I like about it is you can still eat lots of other stuff with it, and their calories will be lessened by the negative ones.

For example if you eat 2500 calories worth, and then few vegetables and fruits that give you -500, you'll end up at 2000 for the day. Without any bad diets.

I will not eat less than 0 calories everyday, perhaps you've misunderstood me.

I will be staying above zero by the meat foods and anything else I might consume....

Realistically, I'd say with these foods I'd aim for about 1000 calories a day.

With your concept though of burning more than you eat, how od you expect weight loss can ever be attained?

Unless I"m wrong here,

Eating more calories than you burn = weight gain

Eating same calories as you burn = stable weight

Eating less calories than you burn = weight loss

What I'm talking about is the fruits for breakfast or snacks throughout the day, grilled chicken salad for lunch and maybe just salad for dinner or salad with some more meat or something.

If you eat a stalk of celery and have -2 calories (or whatever), that's not much 'extra' you can eat.

i misunderstood what you are trying to say. ALL diets rely on a caloric deficit at the end of the day (calories consumed vs. calories expended)


but you are also not absolutely correct in that eating less calories will automatically mean weight loss. your body will always try to compensate and resist and is not really hip to the idea of losing some of its precious fat that it stored.

you can eat 1000 calories a day and lose almost no fat as your body realizes its being starved and starts to shut down... then starts relying more and more on burning muscle for energy.

I've red the atkins book and zone diet stuff as well as weigh-watchers stuff. I'm fascinated by food. Dunno why.

i would imagine that you would just be insanely hungry all the time because your body knows that 1) you have ready access to food and 2) it needs much more to be satisfied.

I think this might happen if this kind of 'diet' was stuck to for months....but I just don't think so for 2 weeks, I have enough fat to burn for that time period

Either way I know the idea method is to eat slightly less fat (or dirnk less) and up my exercise. However at the moment, 3 times a week for exercise is all I can do while working, gf, etc...

I think the ultimate solution, one that was working great was PLENTY OF SEX!! I blame my new gf for the decline on this one hehe
