My doggie just passed away

And I'm posting here.. isn't it crazy? But I can't sleep nor do anything else. Poor little yorkie had an infection and an emergency surgery 3 days ago and we were hoping with the vet that she can make it but she was so weak.. got her last infusion today and was complaining then I thought she fell asleep.. but she passed.

It's so tough. People don't understand how close one can be to a dog unless they're dog owners.

I'vve got a lot on me, mom is dieing of rapidly fatal brain cancer, now the doggie left me, what a year.

I'm very sorry to hear. One of the hardest things in my life was putting my old yorkie to sleep. I still think of her everyday.

As a dog owner, I can suggest this: Get a new dog as soon as you can. It won't be the same dog that left you, but it'll fill the void. I did that when my dog died and I thought I was a horrible person. The thing was, it was the companionship of a new dog that I could care for that got me through the loss. Now I love my dog as much as the other one, and a lot of her mannerisms remind me of my old dog.

Stay strong and the pain will let up soon. Good luck with your mother as well.

I understand. My German Shepherds have been like my children through the years.

And on top of the feelings you develop from being pets, mine have been protection work dogs so its like losing the most devoted of employees as well. Ones who are trained and more than eager to take the bullit and give their life to protect yours. That makes it twice as hard.

Who else would do that for you so unselfishly and with so much utter diligence?

I miss the ones I've lost over the years constantly.

They go on like we do to a better dimension and I look forward to being with them all again one day. That's all I ask for when I die.

Mine was a tini-mini yorkshire terrier, smaller than an average cat, found her and we were together from 1966 and she was so much fun and like a kid, too...

I know how you feel, I just lost my dog and my cat at the same time!! It was very hard...they definitely become like family.
Sounds like your dog had a long life and was very loved... you gave it a good life!! That's awesome.

Sorry for your lost. Pets are some times better than friends.

I remember when one of our family dogs (German Shepherd). Her hips went out and my mom said she was taking her to vet?I was crying and put her on my bother?s skateboard. The poor dog really tried to work her front paws. Mom wouldn?t let me go with her to the vet.

She came home and I ask is Tasha okay? She had tears in her eyes and said no. I still miss that dog.

It is tough to lose a pet and watch family members die. I know, though I am a cat owner now, getting a call at 3:00 am that your mom is back in the hospital and it doesn?t look good. Somehow, my cat knows and tries to comfort me while I am waiting for the call to fly out or wait.

If my cat died today I would be at a lost.

Digifan, I am so sorry to hear that...
I can feel your pain.. had a little poodle, lived a long, pampered life..

(other than me dressing it in dolls clothes and pushing it around in my doll buggy when I was little)

the day he passed was one of the saddest in my life....
my thoughts are with you

My best friend (ever) was nearly 18 when she passed about a year and a half ago and I still sometimes have misty-eye moments when I think of her. She was with me for so many phases of my life and it really was like losing a family member.

I had thought so many times how I wouldn't rush to replace her because it wouldn't have felt right but a few months before she died I ended up taking in a castaway (didn't play well with others, but never messed with my old dog and she seemed to be cool with him around). After she passed I ended up taking in another castaway (daughter of the first one) and now the 2 little maniacs run the place.

And even though the two of them combined haven't even approached the status of my old friend (these guys are semi-affectionate, maybe in time...) just having them around kept me from going nuts.
