Next Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, an annual event where comic book stores give away a free comic book to everyone that comes in their stores. This is the third year my stores have participated in this event.

My stores spend thousands of dollars a year promoting this event. The comic books are free to consumers, not the stores, but it's fairly cheap advertising and very effective. We also buy extra copies and donate them to schools and libraries.
