Should I buy a nice laptop from ebay or Spend extra money and buy a Dell?

I am trying to think what I should do.

Dell wants 2300.00ish for the laptop I want.

I can get one for about 1900 off ebay. *Sony

Should I get a DELL with Warrenty or the whitebox and save money?

Ten years ago, Dell's desktops owned but for the last few years all I've heard about their products (desktop and laptop) is bad stuff.

Edit: By the way, if you like Dell products, I think it's worth the $400 extra to get the brand and warrantee and so on that you want.

Heard way too many horror stories about eBay purchased laptops. I'd spend for the Dell.

Same here. I got fucked on a used laptop deal for $1500 CDN last year. I decided to finally buy one last month and went straight to Future Shop (Canadian version of Best Buy) and drop $2400 on my beautiful new baby.

I have owned two Dells and have watched countless coworkers buy their laptops else where. When my Dell breaks for whatever reason they send someone to my huose to fix it and that person fixes it and then answers any of my questions and is very knowledgable. When my friends and coworkers laptops take a shit they are either fucked plain and simple or they have to call, get a tracking number, send the shit back to the factory, get it referbished and get it back sometimes more than a month later. FUCK THAT!

I have had a positive experience with my 10 month old Dell Dimension 8300 desktop and now with my five moth old Inspiron 8600 laptop. Good battery life, great wide screen, fast processor, built in wireless and a Dell docking station and advanced port replicator for my office make the notebook work great as a desktop replacement and on-the-go for me.

I'd better get one from Alienware instead of Dell, like the Area-51m

Fully customizable

Price start at $2,178.00

here

The only drawback is the weight -- 7.5lbs, too heavy for a mobile device, but it works faster than any average desktop pcs around.

Eleet computer systems are born at Alienware

I would not buy anything like that of value off of ebay. I also have a Toshiba 17'' widecreen laptop and it rocks.

While I wouldnt buy the Dell, I wouldnt go for the ebay one either.
You can buy a whitebox locally with warranty I'm sure.

I've owned 3 Dells & 2 Gateways over the years and they all suck. The cheapie whitebox from mdg has outdone all of them, at 1/2 the price.

I got a dinosaur dell laptop, its been to about 30+ shows, and it still keeps working. The batteries still keep a charge. Only problem has been that there are 2 cracks on the top of the laptop (backside of the display) but it still functions fine. Truth is I should have got myself a new one about 2-3 years ago, I just keep waiting for this thing to die, and it won't. I've had this laptop for somewhere around 5 years.
