Do spelling mistakes get on your nerves?

I must be one anal son-of-a-bitch because every time I see a new thread with a purposely misspelled word I get annoyed and wind up thinking the person is an attention seeking "I want to be cool!" person.

Ok enough of my rant, how is your morning going?

I dont like them, but I am not anal about them... I type so fast and hate to go back and keep fixing every word. If its just a friend.. i dont correct too much.. but if its going to be seen pubically, I try to correct it.

typing with nails is hell.. time to take these fuckers off!

The purposely misspelled stuff just makes me think they're a teenager, but the grammar, writing, and literacy skills of people in general, never cease to amaze me. I guess it wasn't as noticeable until we all started typing shit on the internet 24/7. Not being a good speller is one thing, but some of the stuff I read around here is like the person has a chromosome missing, or something.

The mistakes that really annoy me are generally of a grammatical nature. The ability to punctuate correctly is a lost art, or so it seems. Those who use "I been" and quasi-ebonics are also particularly irritating.

I've often wondered if a lot of the spelling mistakes in titles aren't done on purpose. I'm not talking about words like "kewl".... that is done to get across the way the person is pronouncing the word. No, I mean when someone makes a spelling mistake or grammatical error like....

"Who is will you promote this summer?"

"I think fat chicks arhot"

"Loking to buy ur contant"

It just seems so put on.

math is so much more important than grammer

Yeah, they bug me. I usually skip the apostrophe in alot of words, and make normal spelling errors. And I also start alot of sentances with the words "and" and "but". But the fake words meant to be cool are annoying on another level altogether..

Some common mistakes are annoying.. Like "threw" instead of "through". Or "quiet" instead of "quite" (that kills me!).

Oh well, looks like it's suicide again for me.

people who correct spelling have no life and had crappy parents who corrected them all the time,

so they grow up depressed losers trying to correct the world when they are the ones who need to be corrected.

Yes I keep telling myself it is deliberate to get attention. Like the store owner with the spelling mistake on his sign outside that gets everybody in the store to point out his mistake to him.

What amazes me is that Sly's posts are always written so well even though it's voice recognition software!

I always feel guilty when I STILL spell something wrong and he "writes" so much better.

Then again, I'm a lot older than he is so my mind is going.........

Oh, and after reading Serge and Michael's posts for years, and my son's emails, I think I can read just about anything and understand what it MIGHT mean

I don't know if they do or not. I ignore most...and I make lots of typos myself.

But you're and your, and there, their, and they're do aggrevate me for some reason when they're used incorrectly.

Hmmmm.

I don't mind an occasional typo, and I've come to realize that a lot more people have dyslexic tendencies than you would think, BUT the purposeful misspelling has bothered me since I was wee. "Nite", "Lite Done Rite", and "You've Got Mail" are pet peeves of mine. Then people come in here and do all this I <3 u and rawk on and werd stuff. AH! It makes me want to go read something with full sentences.
