Rogers is garbage in my area, half the time I can't even hear who is calling me.

Big waste of money

I wonder if even the mighty Telus could eliminate network-busy tones and dropped calls from the Fido network.

Fido had some problem recently in GTA and GVA because of CityFido, - besides that they are fine. They've seen so many new users because of CityFido and the new unlimited received calls plan (check it here). I know they are working on it.

Telus have their own problems too - and quite frankly there is NO other provider in Canada that can match US roaming rate with Fido at $0.20US/min. I mean, it's cheaper to roam using Fido than using pre-paid in US.

And F2F for only $10 (fido to fido) is plainly awesome. You can call any Fido user and you don't get charged, regardless of where they are in Canada. This is good for us at the office where everyone is on Fido... we are saving so much!

Plus, they are the online carrier in Canada who still have per second billing, unlimited GPRS (wireless internet 50$) with no soft-cap. And LD are charged $0.10/min compared to rogers and telus at $0.25/min. And you can pre-pay your LD minutes and pay like $0.03/min with fido.

Bottom line is that I don't want to see Fido go away

Telus is unmatched in Vancouver as far as coverage and service goes. I gladly pay more.

There is no question about coverage. Telus, Bell and Rogers - all have better coverage than Fido. Fido targets only urban centres. I am on Vancouver's Island myself and Fido isn't that great either compared to Telus. But when i go to US (which I go quite often), i like to have my Fido with me. Plus, GPRS is vital for me with my laptop and Fido's GPRS is unlimited even in the US.

Even if i don't get coverage everywhere here on Vancouver's Island, i stay mainly in Nanaimo or Victoria - and the coverage is fine, same for Vancouver; unless you go up north BC and such.

For me, i rarely go out of service with my Fido.

Same here in Montreal. I love Telus. I switched from Fido over 2 years ago and don't regret it.

I'm probably going to be switching back to Fido soon (or at least getting a second Fido phone) because they carry this little baby: http://www.danger.com/hiptop_demo/flash.html

Fido doesn't have the same extended coverage that Telus have, but they sure cover Montreal very well imo.

Similar to the hiptop, Fido will offer the Nokia nGage early July. There is a review of the nGage here: click here

Until you step into an elevator, go downstairs, enter a shopping mall, etc...

Ya you're not the only one. The worst is I'm not paying to cancel their service so I'm stuck with them for now.

FIDO coverage blows in Ontario. It's too bad, because they seem to have all the good cell phones.

It's fine as long as you don't stray too far from the 401, but that does me no good.
