lol, the labor party of the last 20 years has been fairly indistinguishable economically from the liberals, all labor governments and been right faction governments, Latham is right faction, ie not a lefty. The economic policies of the 80's and 90's are a good part of the reason that the economy is so strong today.. measures like floating the dollar and whatnot set us on the path to our current strength.. Even so the economy is a lot broader than any particular government and the decisions made can take decades to play out, economic cycles are not concurrent with political cycles, anyone with a modicum of knowledge knows this but simple fallacies are easily remembered and the "welfare" tag sticks to labor because people are too blind to recognise other kinds of corporate welfare and different areas of spending that are just as "wasteful".Originally posted by Kevin2
