i used to go the the chiropractor once a week and the physio twice a week, back when i was playing a lot of basketball.

it really depends on what the problem is, if its the spine specifically then see a chiro, if its more the muscles around the spine see a physio

go herbal

fuck the chiro

it's only for major problems IMO, and you have to be sure they are good.

I went to one for a year. The appointments went like this. I get on table, he uses his little clicker about 3 times, feels my neck bones, feels my lower back, pushes in a couple spots and then says ok you're all done...now pay me I went 3 times a week for a year and my back is still fucked up. Cost quite a bit of bank too. They are all quacks man. Pain is mental.

Chiropractor's are like Advil, you feel better for a little while but they dont fix anything.

they are all quacks... not real doctors and can cause more damage in the long run IMO, but I am no Dr. Been to one once... will never go back.

It depends on your problem, and if you decide you to make sure he is good with references.

There are few good chiropractors.

Massage, exercise, and acupuncture works well; plus, some changes in the way you sit at your computer...chair, ergonomics, stuff like that.

I have heard some really good things about chiropractors and Ive heard some really bad things as well! I think message therapy is a safe alternative!

One of the docs at my general practitioner's office is a DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), which is like the real doctor version of a chiropractor. He has "adjusted" my neck and spine on a few occassions when I complained of pain and numbness. It was pretty cool. He said the proper adjustments shouldn't really have to be repeated often (unlike chiropractors who depend on weekly visits).

My best friend and her husband are chiropractors, and I can honestly say that I feel much better when I get regularly adjusted. I rarely have headaches or aches/pains in my back and neck when I go on a regular schedule.

When she was trying to get through school, she had to have tons of clinic hours and they made them find their own patients. A bunch of her friends, family, and myself would drive over to help her out. When she graduated, she lived near me which also made it easy. Now, she lives about 3-4 hours away and I only see her every few weeks or sometimes as long as 2 months. I can really tell the difference.

It's like anything else - you have to find a good one. If they're only doing that little activator thing a couple of times and one or two quick adjustments, then find some else. If you get a good one, I'll bet you'll be hooked. And if you have decent insurance, usually the visits are covered.

My back was injured about a month ago... physio couldn't do anything about it so after 3 weeks they sent me to the chiropractor, *snap*, one push and my problem was solved! Gotta say I love it

I have a herniated disc and have been thru physical therapy, steroid injections, braces, muscle stim, and more. I was in intense pain and unable to do most things. A good chiropractor and an inversion table are the only things that stopped a disc-removal surgery, and gave me my life back. Just like any profession, there are some quacks, so make sure you choose one based on recommendations, not the phone book. Also, do not go to one that thinks chiropractic is the cure for every ailment and disease.
