1 - They canīt handle that they need to work 24/7 in some weeks.

2 - Beeing a adultwebmasters is not only $$$ in the beginning.

3 - they donīt know how to work with dialers so they try normal sponsors

minor mistakes starting out.. like using 100kb big pics on galleries and getting them listed on the hun..

followed by getting no signups and a huge BW bill they can't pay.

leaving them more broke 3 weeks later than to begin with

just one of the scenerios that will run a newbie away from the biz.

1: people think this is so damn easy, then when they find out that there is more to it then tossin up a few galleries on a free host, they quit.
2: lack of technical knowlege
3: poor networking skills.
4:not being able to distinguish betwwen good and poor quality content, just cause she's hot and in focus doesn't mean its good content, camera angles are fucked, or the performers just arn't into it, ect.
5:lack of funding, takes money to make money.Maybe back in the day you could get away with out buying traffic, but not now. Advertising in this business is expensive also.

Stupidity and lazyness. Most webmasters go heads in first and fail. Just step back.. learn learn learn for like half a year. STOP what you're doing, re-evaluate and start with a bang

i actually has the same thing going 6 years back..big ass unoptimzied picture and a good amount of traffic
Bandwidth nowadays os cheap however or they just use a sponsor hosting account

No dedication would be my other guess..takes a lot of time to build something and it can be pretty lonesome

Spending when the money is comming in as opposed to saving. Because reinventing your game plan can be expensive. If you werent saving to expand you can get swept away in one simple industry change.

Many people got into this business because they were slackers or lacked people skills. Now granted its eaiser to make 500 bucks doing this than painting, for example. However, this is a business like any other and the slackers and people who lacked people skills are the ones that fail. The people who realize this is like any other business, and run it as such, will succeed.
Cheers
Duke

1. Choice of hosting
2. Laziness <-- We all suffer from this
3. Belief that the industry is as easy as starting a TGP and waiting for the money to roll in / Idiot / Stupid.
4. Quitting after 'failing' first time round
5. Believeing that Dialers are the key to making money [Just for you Lasse]

Eh, if I hadn't been a spammer before I got into adult full time I'd never had made it.

Even so, I couldn't see myself doing it without being a designer/coder/etc all in one. I just can't get into the TGP groove or anything like that, I have to invent my own traffic sources. Maybe a mistake people make is trying to fit a mold they weren't made to fit.

excellent points - another is networking, not knowing how to work traffic or finding resources in order to find knowledgable people that are willing to help or be a mentor.

best advice - read read read. Know what your getting into, learn the industry - treat it like a business and not a personal playground.

The nature of the business attracts quite a few people who aren't any good at business.

Even people with traditional business experience have been known to fail on the net but a lot of people with no business experience whatsoever are attracted to it. Not that someone with no business experience can't "make it". Many of us had little or no experience beforehand but those success are even less likely today because success is depending more and more on "traditional" business experience.

Can you be self-disciplined, hire and manage the right people, project profits and losses without being too optimistic, financially plan, make the correct contacts and convert that into business, understand what is important to affiliates, manage your press properly, and avoid catastrophes such as loss of all data?

The general problem is working from home imho, it needs alot more self motivation than having your butt kicked by someone else in the office.

And some suffer from the illusion that making money is easier as a webmaster...no hard work = no success = failure. Easy formula.

Exactly. Most people jump into this not knowing dick about what it takes to actually make money. They think it's easy cash. It may have worked that way in 2000, but it doesn't work that way now. You've gotta actually fucken work to make a buck.

Reg a domain name, throw up some FHG's and they think they're porn webmasters. Then they sit back and scratch their heads wondering why the cash isn't rolling in. They don't understand you've gotta know what you're doing. How many are willing to actually learn? Not many.

And then you have the ones that waste everyone's time submitting shitty galleries. Had one last week that had a descrip like "floppy tits fuck" or something, listed in the cumshot category, and they had a big bootie sponsor. The content didn't fit any of that. And they think they're going to make money off that thing? Jesus!

Ok, I'm done ranting for now.

People can't read, or comprehend text they read.

The amount of people in this thread that didn't list 5 reasons alone gives you a good view (myself included). lol.

A few months ago I offerd to teach about a dozen people how to make 1K a week doing galleries most of these people where newbies but I was still surprised at the rate they gave up or just didnt listen out of the 12 I started with one stuck with it and did it tough getting enough traffic but now after 3 months or so he is allmost there.

People just dont get the middle bit the middle bit is where suscess is found.

Because they think the adult interweb is like one giant RPG.

They come here with absolutely zero knowledge of business, no work ethics and usually very poor communication skills.

More than half the time they don't even know exactly what they are doing, hence the "so and so is shaving" after two months in the industry threads.

newbies go home.

and spamming ifriends on aol and yahoo does not make one a webmaster.

It's very simple.

Most people don't have a clue how to run a business.

1 - no direction (so many things to do and no set thing of what to do)
2 - no business sense (seen plenty of webmsaters make idiotic mistakes in their business investments)
3 - do not know how to run a business (this is very important making money is easy but keeping it is harder)
4 - bad ideas (too many people try dumb things)
5 - trying to reinvent the wheel (try to just do what everyone else is doing and quit trying to rule the world there is a formula in this business stick with it worked for a lot of other guys out there)

Trying to start with a paysite.
Trying to start with a TGP.
Trying to use "tricks" instead of "work".
Trying to make a free site and update it instead of forgetting it and making more.
Forgetting that the main thing in "working from home" is the "work" part.

etc.
