There seems to be a growing contingent of GFY poker players going pseudo professional.... Pretty interesting. I personally think you can make a lot more spending your time and energy on your business ... but whatever floats your boat.

Anybody know the status of Stocktraders little experiement?

ok well then how about the best book(s) for no limit hold'em in general then?

I am playing poker cuz I enjoy gambling and poker is not against the house - apparently it is about skill and your money lasts longer gambling and you feel like you have a chance.

there is no denying if you are good enough at it you can make a living at it and play at land based tournaments as well.

I am really enjoying it and dont plan on stopping anytime soon so considering that I would like to be best equipped hence everything I read and hear is read books

Those are 2 must read poker books. Even if you're not planning to be a serious poker player, it will help with your game tons.

There's another book by Skalansky, i think it's like Hold'Em for advanced or something and then he has his basic hold'em book.

I flipped through a couple online poker books at Barnes & Noble and they seemed pretty lame. Many people say Doyle Brunsons Super Systems is the best poker book.

I play every day at Party Poker. I only play NL Holdem. Here is my advice:

Take notes! Its seems silly at first but after you play for awhile you see the same people and its nice to know how they played.
I also put "fish" or overly aggressive players on my buddy list so I can have an easy mark. I keep notes like how much they bet with certain hands and how much the blinds were when they did it....if they are easy to bully etc. I mostly just play the single table sit and gos. I will take a few minutes a day a go through the sit and gos with three players left and put in a note like 6/22/04 $50/NL Top 3.....after a while you will see the same players winning often and I might avoid sitting down at a table with a bunch of good players. I only play $50/100/200 sit and gos. The $5-30 are really loose and I think a waste of time.
I also think that the higher the stakes the looser you can play. People playing 100/200 games play TIGHT.

If you havent seen them, www.pokertracker.com and http://www.pokerinspector.com are pretty cool.

Btw, Ive played at almost all of the poker rooms and I like Party Poker the best because there are constantly tons of people playing and its fast and easy to cash out.

if you already play a fundmental poker game, and are profiting, theres not much else.

However, there is one book I found to be quite excellent.

Killer Poker Online
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
<disclaimer: there is no amazon affiliate link here
This is a personal recommendation, I make no profiit if the book sells.>

This book doesnt tell you how to play differently, but it explains how your game is effected by online play.

It's very good, if you like to understand why you act the way you do while playing, and how to tweak your tendencies to make more profit.

Whatever you can to get that "edge"

I highly recommend it.

is this the poker bible:

"Hold'Em Poker Bible: A Poker Classic" by Dick Davis published in '83?

it appears that Doyle Brunson has a systems II book released in 2004 perhaps it covers online too...

and then the skalansky books I assume I should read the advanced one if any?

thx again :D

for online poker definately go for a book that deals more with the mathematical probabilites rather than playing the players, you will probably find it more useful
