Actually, back in the mid-80's, the caps thing was useful in the BBS warez and phreaking communities in determining who was "31337" and who was just a leecher. There was a system to using caps that was passed on by word of mouth, so anyone who knew it was verified to not be a cop or leecher. Hell if I can remember the caps rules, but there were several, and it was easy to determine who was "31337" and who was just faking it.
Nowadays, it's only used by kids who think they're cool.Comment
