Google is watching you...

Gmail. Everyone seems to want one.

Do you really want all of your emails saved on servers forever?

Who can look at these? Google has already been shown to not give 2 shits about your privacy. Dunno if I want them holding thousands of my emails even after I'm dead.

Maybe Ashhahahahaha plans on investing in Google when they go public.

Cause they still shouldn't be able to read your personal messages whenever they feel like for near enough any reason.

It's their server and their service. They can do whatever the fuck they want. Don't like it, don't sign up and use it. Isn't that how it works?

I could care less if they'rereading what I write to my grandma with my Google account, so long as they're OFF my servers and not reading anything else.

I would be worried about all those russian rape sites that spam me all the time. No remove links, totally illegal, and a possible goverment setup to catch these types of surfers.

I wouldn't want that crap siting on my home computer or on a webmail.

I would never consider using Gmail for sensitive information.

Yeah true, but I and anyone else can have an opinion on their service.

With the current administration and Google's attitude about privacy one has a reason to be paranoid.

Gmail only discourages deleting emails, but they give the option.

If you're worried they might keep the deleted emails, how is Hotmail and Yahoo any different? They can too keep emails if they wanted to.

Don't use Hotmail or Yahoo and never have. They also shouldn't be able to do the same.

If you think Hotmail and Yahoo don't have the ability to search your emails (even the deleted ones) on there system you are naive.

If it scares you, by all means don't use it. It's that simple. You need to be much more concerned with using regular email. Most of us are more willing to discuss private matters via regular email but almost every major ISP has email monitoring systems in place. They can do a hell of a lot more than Google.

Read up on Carnivore, Altivore and of course Echelon

http://compnetworking.about.com/libr.../aa120400b.htm

If you have something private to discuss, the internet probably isn't the place to do it.

True. Internet is considered a "public place", always has been.
