My grandmother just asked me for a job

Went over for a father's day dinner, and had a discussion with my grandparents.

Both should'nt be working but have to and my grandma just got laid off from her company she's been with a long time. This is the 4th person in my family that this has happened to in the last year, and my family is VERY small. It just breaks my fucking heart that I am not rich enough yet to take care of them and I fear it will be too late when I am.

This fucking country is seriously starting to scare me.

Why do you feel obligated to make enough money to help support your grandparents? If anything, that should be where your parents step up, not you. Worry about yourself and maybe in 40 years when your parents need help, then you can step up.

That sucks and I really feel for you. The first thing I'm going to do when I put some scratch together is set my grandma up. She gives so much and expects nothing in return; and she's been that way all her life (as I'm sure is the same with your grandparents).

That sucks. Don't they have senior jobagencies over there? We have them over here, and a guy at my old job was hired thru one of those. It are not great jobs ( he worked as the printing and storageroom guy, and he had been a accountmanager in his youngher years) but they might have something for her. It is terrible that a lot of people are out of a job. Unemployment is very high here too, and they are more likely to hire someone who if youngher. Good luck to her

Hope it works out for your grandparents. Even if you can't or can support them, they probably wouldn't accept it anyways.

If you live close to them. Do little favors for them. My mother-inlaw (which I don't get along with) is on a very limited budget but every couple of weeks I tell her my car is broken and can I borrow hers. I really don't need it but I fill tank up.

She is a Gin drinker, and I buy her bottles saying you know I hate Gin and another client gave me this, and I can't tell the client.

Everyone in the family are doing these little white lies so at birthday and holiday times, she still can afford gifts to her grand children.

well, in my case, i could feel that im so rubbish . . . . . . my parents now are both unemployed . . .. they want to have a business but they doesnt have money to be their capital , i cant give nothing . . im the youngest of three and d only girl, all of us have our own family, i can give an amount of money to my dad every pay day but i know its not really enough, but thats all i can give . . . . . . i want to send back all their sacrifices and efforts they gave us,when we're young

Hey I understand man sorry to here this bro...My grandmother raised me and she passed away last thanksgiving. I never got to take care of her the way I wanted I worked in adult from 98-00 then got out of the industry...To finish school and I work then I just lost my job last week and I'm moving to florida going to be doing this full time again or if I can find a adult company in tampa that needs work I might look there...But sorry for the rant I hope it all works out well for you.

due to a little poor planning and some bad luck at times, my parents will work till the day they die, no doubt about it.

i guess sometimes i just put a little pressure on myself in hopes of providing them with some kind of retirement someday.

I know how you feel my parents are in the same boat. I see many older people doing things like teachers aids or other things for the school districts. maybe she might want to look into that.
