Idea. Stay away from your Ex. If she is following you, file for an exparte order of protection (Adult abuse in some states). There will be a hearing, but if she comes near you, she could be arrested. This is addition to the assult charge.
You don't need an attorney for this in most states. Have a lawyer represent you is always wise. I am not an attorney so all this is lay opinion. Sounds like you might have one involved already since you are pressing charges.Comment

It was either that or beat the fuck out of her and her boyfriend on the side of the road.
