    What's the best size and format for videos?

    I'm about to buy a kick arse computer, should be good it's costing enough, to edit videos on. At the moment our picture corrector is doing them but as we are stepping up production on video I'm going to take it over.

    I've edited tape for years but this will be my first attempt at editing for the Internet,

    So what size screen, format and size file (per minute) are you looking for?

    Also images what size images do you want?

      i think a large size good quality.... because you can always make it smaller but you cant make them bigger. once the quality is gone its gone forever.

              Most of my clients prefer 1000-1400kbps MPEG-1

                      This is a question I've struggled with for some years. Every time I posted or asked a "video expert" in private I got different answers.

                      I personally don't like MPEG. Although they can run on all platforms, I can't find a way to compress them at a decent file size with good enough quality. However, since they run on all platforms we are using MPEG.

                      I think Windows Media is pretty much the defacto standard. All of the "dumb" surfers already have it installed. I've found that rendering a video into a full sized avi file and then compressing them using Windowed Media Encoder comes out with a good file size and decent quality.

                              I personally like DVD myself, but its about as practicle as avi.
