UFC 48: Ken Shamrock ownage

ufc.tv

Ken Shamrock owned Kimo in first round with a single knockout knee... I was quite surprised as KIMO is massive...

Was a sweet card tonight but even sweeter is the announcement that Vitor Belfort and Randy Couture will be fighting again in UFC 49 in August

Isn't Kimo overrated though. I remember them making a big deal out of him because Gracie beat him, but it took a long time. Though I remember him having a losing record for some time as well. I think a couple other people out of that era beat him too. Perhaps it was Taktarov, Shamrock (in early UFC), Fry, or somone I'm forgetting. However, I don't remember him being that good because when they first talked about him I was all excited about him doing Jeet Kun Do (spelling?) - that Bruce Lee style fighting, then I remember him getting beat, even after his line of folks and the giant cross carrying pre-fight stuff he did.

Kimo got knocked the fuck out. UFC 49 should be pretty damn good judging by the card!

Shamrock defeated KIMO wiht a KO knee

Mir had Silvia's in an armbar and broke his forearm so the ref stopped the fight but he was like its not broken I can continue... then the doctor was like no its fractured. You could see it snap in the replay - quite impressive by Mir but then again he is awesome at submissions he is my 3rd fav fighter now (befort, penn, mir - even tho penn left UFC)

Matt Hughes defeated Renato Verissimo in a decision - he almost lost but somehow got out of and recovered from a brutal triangle lock. Verissimo is one the best I have ever seen fight from the guard.

Evan Tanner kicked Phil Baroni's ass and won by decision. Lots of great knees from Tanner and striking in general as he fought him standing up most of the match.

Trigg knocked the fuck out of Dennis Hallman - striked the living shit out of him and ref stopped it in the middle of a beating. Then Trigg stood over him and gave him two middle fingers.

Georges St. Pierre smoked Jay Hieron with some primo striking.

Curtis Stout [183] vs. Trevor Prangley [185] - I dunno they only showed clips

Matt Serra [155] vs. Ivan Menjivar [154] - Serra won by decision

UFC 49 is going to kickass - my $$ is on Belfort ))

FYI - Pride is on tomorrow night - I have never watched Pride before but I am going to check it out

the mir - sylvia fight was crazy, when his arm broke, wow. Sylvia is a real tough guy.

Overall card was good. Nice to see shamrock win, Baroni is soooo overated.

I was just thinking the same thing when I read that. I'm sure Matt Hughes would want a rematch with Penn eventually considering it was a huge upset last time.

it wouldnt surprise me if he made his way back there some time in the near future
i really thought he would after the fight with ortiz which wasn't even a match is was just a fucking shame ! I felt embarrased for the man !

apparently even before that match he had been told by docs not to fight anymore - so after he got slammed so hard that match i thought it's be straight back to the "safe ol" WWE - where he can parade and pose arpound for 30 min before the 5 mintues of actual "fighting"

I didnt see this match which was a shame coz i really liek to watch shamrock fight (when he isnt gettign his ass slammed)

that was a crazy match. I'm a big penn fan, but i didnt think he had a chance against hughes. And he didnt just beat him, he dominated him.

We were in the front row off the floor about 25 feet from the octagon.....

What a fight.......

The buzz was Kimo was going to take out Shamrock...when we saw that knee........ we knew it was done before they even called it....

Good Times......

We hooked it up after at Rum Jungle with Dennis Hallman....dude was hanging like it was just another night......

Bumped into Shaq when we ate at Mandalay stopped and said hello...... and snapped a photo....

Ken and Bruce.......I can't thank you enough what an amazing time!!!

Chatted with Shamrocks family....they were elated!!!!

The arm breaking was gnarly I have no idea why the crowd was booing.....we could see that thing break clearly.......it was chilling
