To Webmaster or not to Webmaster?

To Webmaster or not to Webmaster that is my question.

I have only been on GFY for a couple of days now and from what I read becoming a web master seem like it would just be a big pain in the ass. I have master your basic HTML code this last past semester in school and that does not seem like it would be a problem.

What does seem like it would be a problem is the late hours; the endless amount of coding, the non-stop review of enormous quantities of galleries that are mostly nonsense.

So tell me if you had it to do all over again would you even bother starting the process? Do the benefits out weigh the detriments? Why do you do it? is it really that hard to make money? And if I do decide to start doing it what would be the best way to start?

Thank you I would really appreciate the advice of people who have been doing it for a while. After all the best kind of advice is that of people who have the experience/knowledge.

Joe.

well sure I haven't made my million yet and been in and out of this biz for the last 4 years. but I sure would do it all over again. having met may great friends and even a few enmies.

And here is my advice. never look at the dollar you made today but the dollar you are going to make tomorrow. And always be on the look out for new and interesting things on these boards. Some of them might just work for you and some might bomb. Who knows.

And as for thwm long hours they get easier. *LOL* I know I get by with less sleep.

I agree it's not what you make today it's what you can make or will make later down the road!
Overnight success? Not likely lots of hard work.
The long hours well I've worked for assholes where a 18hr day just wasn't enough time put in for them to be happy.
lol @ Dirtypainter Yes you learn to sleep less once every 3 days is good for me
All you can do is try it and see If your happy doing it.
If not look for a different career

Becoming a porn webmaster can definately be a pain in the ass, but there is more to it than just reviewing galleries. If you want to be successful, you will have to work hard at it just like anything else. You need to learn how the buisness works first, then go ahead with it. I fucked up a lot and wasted a lot of time trying to break into this buisness. I guess I should have asked some questions first! Its starting to pay off now though!

Well, I work my own hours without having to leave the house. I don't have to deal with the public. I'm learning valuable skills in the process. I'm making more money than I could anywhere else with a music degree. This is a dream job. It's plenty of hard work, but I think it's really worth it.

Joe... You already know my answer. I told you that over beers last night.

But for the rest of you, yeah, this is a royal pain in my ass. Late hours and lots of work after the rest of my day is done, but oh well. I like many of the people I've met -- even if they DO keep telling me to go fuck myself all the time.

Ask questions, tread lightly, do your homework and maybe, just maybe you won't have to struggle as much as I have over the past few years.

Good luck, Dangleberry (heh-heh-heh), and we have more beers to drink sometime next week. Is that clear?

Being porn WebMaster also means knowing some of the commonly known middlewares out there ( Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP, etc. ) to help out with different tasks such as dealing with accounts, extranets and intranets ( to allow the webmaster easy access to information on his customers. ie: The most visited galleries and shit like that. )
