i see two sides here - on the one hand, it's terrible that this happened to a fellow human being. on the other hand, our country has killed lots more people than one and many people here didn't think it was terrible at all. and i'm sure that the people of iraq felt that their killings were equally justified. "our" side is always the "right" side.

i can't see why the death of one specific person, no matter how shocking, is more newsworthy than the death of hundreds or thousands of nameless people but somehow a lot of people feel that deaths in war are more okay than death in this way.
