Domain gurus, please clear something up for me

If you purchase a domain with an artist's/celebrity name on it, you basically have a shit domain?

I mean, what if I had a website called Olsentwinsanorexia.com or something like that that gets high searches, and I have like a parked deal going on there where I earn money on it - is this illegal?

you could get sued for many things including, but not limited to, defamation and lose the domain, time and money. but email me and I'll give you a free tip, some insight and a free domain name. use "Olsentwinsanorexia" in your subject line. (sponsorcash|@|mail.com).

good luck.

But if you don't do nothing fucked up on it, what are the chances you get sued ? if you hand them the domain when they ask for it ?

i have both

BritneysSexVideo.com (and BritneysHoneymoon.com)

i dont have Britneys last name in the domain name, and i dont suggest that she has a video out there (with the full page advert).

CJ of Celebrity Bling would know about alot about this subject.

some lawyers are out to prove a point, others just want to earn their keep, justify their existence. even if you hand it to them, they may want to move forward with the suit just to make an example out of you. its easier to avoid the situation completely. if you still want to play that game, just run a regular fan site, nothing defamatory.

celebritybling's content is licensed from paparazzi. but if you've gotta domain like: HalleBerrysBoobs.com, even if you point it to CB, the celeb's atty' may still come after you. i've been dealing with lots of celebrity agencies & reps (for official.com) and even though they're supporting the concept, the list of demands/restrictions is getting out of control. But I would never want to go head-to-head against their lawyers. not worth my time especially since so many other opportunities out there.
