An EFF Initiative To Protect Innovation and Free Expression

Just seen this, what do you think?

Every year numerous illegitimate patent applications make their way through the United States patent examination process without adequate review . The problem is particularly acute in the software and Internet fields where the history of prior inventions (often called ?prior art?) is widely distributed and poorly documented. As a result, we have seen patents asserted on such simple technologies as:

EFF is running a patent busting contest
asking internet users to submitt patents which they represent an abuse of the patent filing systems

one of arcadia patents is currently listed on the front page of the contest

"Once it has identified some of the worst offenders, EFF will begin filing challenges to each in the form of a ?re-examination request? to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. These requests create a forum to affirmatively invalidate patents rather than forcing technology users to await the threat of suit. Under this procedure, EFF can choose particularly egregious patents, submit the prior art it has collected, and argue that the patent should be revoked. EFF will collaborate with members of the software and Internet communities as well as legal clinics and pro bono cooperating attorneys to help in these efforts. "

it is really important that you vote for arcadia patents to help get them revoked.

He's still active in this but his main focus has switched.

Brandon dedicated a lot of time effort and money to getting support for the fight against Acacia and though got a lot of vocal support little else.

People like 12clicks actually questioned his motives, which was insulting.

Brandon was in San Diego for the show.

Just got back in town from San Diego.. missed my flight on sunday morning and had to stay an extra night.... San Diego is a great town and cybernet expo was fun.

The EFF attorney had sent me the patent busting contest, but i didn't have time to post it up.

They may shy away from the Acacia case sense it's already in court and there is already alot of prior art found, but it won't hurt for everyone to post their vote for a patent abuse case to suggest.
