Do you put your home address in the WHOIS lookup?

Just curious as to how many people that work from home put in there real address in the WHOIS lookup some content providers want you to personally all my info is fake except my email and i keep track of when my domains expire...........I don't need anyone i don't know knocking on my door or any free limited time offers mailed to my home.

I got my address in the Whois database, it's safe to have something real there, since your domain is your life.

HOWEVER, it does sometimes suck because I get a lot of shit mail because of it from companies that have nothing to offer a babemaster, he he. I even got a call from the Wall Street Journal TWICE and they were telling me how much their paper would help me out, ha ha ha. Once I told the girl what I was into after she wouldn't wanna take no for an answer, after I told her, she said "well, maybe there's not anything for me in their paper", ha ha ha.

P.O. Box cost money and i know it's not much but why would you want one? I don't want ANY mail that has to do with my porn sites the only kind you would get is junk mail so why setup a box for that and i don't need any calls from the Wall Street Journal LOL

I can remember reading somewhere that certain domain registrars send out registered letters to the WHOIS address for verification if someone requests a change of registrar.

That would be one reason to keep a real address listed. But any registrar switching I've ever had to do was all done by email.

I use my real address. I keep my registration receipts that I receive via mail for my tax records. Plus, if I ever lost my ISP and e-mail, home address verification would be the only way to prove I own my domains if I needed to transfer them.

I don't get any junk mail. Just lots of junk e-mail, which is more annoying.

You can use this free PO Box and they'll forward the mail to your address. Of course, free is on the bottom end of their price line, and you get shit for it. But hell, it gives you a valid address away from it all.

Its not too easy to 'jack' a domain nowadays. They have tightened things up alot. We had on H*LL of a time getting some of our domains away from Oznic's admin etc controls.. But networksolutions has other ways to prove ID so we did that. Only took 3 mos to retake our domains. lol

We use either a PO or have our ISP place their business address on them. Most hosts will do that if ya ask em nice and aren't a royal pain.

I keep all my sponsor payments, etc going to another box in the same office, however running freehosting, we get a ton of legal C&D's, etc etc for different sites that get set up.. (never mention Adiads, Marborro, YMCA, PokE'Man (yeah, man), etc on your sites... i find generally they are gay sites, aparently corporate america doesn't like homosexuality tied to their products).. so thats why we need the actual address to check for stuff The only problem I have is that my PO Boxes are back in washington DC and I'm in southern california now hehe... oh well

I just used my initials and a p.o. box. i think its best if everyone got a p.o. box if you're working on the net, its the safest way to go, and for 40 something dollars a year, it really isnt that expensive

Folks, use a PO box. Like many have said, there's too many crazy fucks out there to chance using the home addy. I had a close call with a fanatic that didn't like my hobby....(fortunatly I was alert and considerably larger)
