Acacia Technologies has finally put to rest the question that?s been lingering so long on the minds of adult webmasters. ?Why haven?t they taken on the big boys yet and why are they only filing suit on the adult industry??

"Acacia Technologies announced this morning that they had filed suit against 9 cable giants. Some of those listed in the new patent infringement suit are: DirecTV Group, Comcast, Echostar Communications (which is the parent company of Dish Network), Charter Communications, Cox Communications and several other regionally operated cable network providers."

This is the best event in this mess yet. Either it all gets thrown out or they'll own a chunk of all multimedia in the country, either way it will be over and they will either have the law on their side or will be forced to quit their strongarm tactics.

His response was that the two industries are distinctly different and that if the adult industry is victorious it would not necessarily have any negative ramifications against the new round of lawsuits because the adult industry suits are focused primarily on the internet side of the streaming media issue and the new lawsuits are focused on the cable transmission of streaming media.
What do you mean? Giving up already?

surprised the hell out of me that he actually called me back. I assumed he would be "tied" up in meetings all day and i'd just have to go to press with no comments received from him as well. Now, if I can just get DirecTV or Comcast to return my calls and emails i'll be a happy camper...

Update: I spoke with Robert Mercer from DirecTV Group as to their feelings on the lawsuit having been filed by Acacia Technologies. According to Mr. Mercer DirecTV has no comment at this time. They have yet to be served with any kind of court documents and Mr. Mercer is not even familiar with Acacia or their patent.
