Anyone here own a Fifth Wheel?

I am going to the dealership tomorrow to look at Fifth Wheels but I don't know a whole lot about them. Anyone here know much about them? Such as what manufacturers are good and which are not, what to avoid, what to look for, etc.

Haven't owned one but looked at a bunch. First questioin is always, "what size truck do you need to tow it?" If all you have is a quarter-ton, looking at the big trailers is a waste of time. If you need to get a truck or upgrade yours, take that into account.

What are you going to use it for? Vacation, living, or...? How much time to plan to spend in it? Are you the type who likes to hang around the house or go out all the time? What are you taking with you, motorcycles, bikes, boats? Answering those will tell you big or small.

What's your budget and how are you going to pay for it? Cash or finance? New or used? Getting a trailer a couple of years is almost as good as getting one new and a whole lot cheaper. Most people don't put a bunch of miles on theirs.

You can get anything from a 18 footer that will tow behind a mini-pickup up to a 40'footer that you need a special truck for and everything in between. So know what you plan to do with it first and that will narrow down your ranges.

Many trailers have slideouts on them (sections then are pushed out when the trailer is in a park that give extra room). More room, but more money and more weight.

Figure that out first, then you can worry about brands and sizes and so forth
