Who saw Donnie Darko?

I watched the movie yesterday, but I'm not sure what to make of this movie. Anyone has a clue, especially about the end of the movie?

Great movie! I watched it ages ago so can't remember the end exactly but i know it was an interesting one. One of those that makes you want to rewind it and watch it again knowing what you know now.

Cool movie!

Just grabbed this off the net:

Donnie is given the chance to control fate. He was supposed to die when the jet engine fell through his roof, but went sleepwalking with the guidance of Frank. Donnie finds out that if he hadn't died when the engine fell through his house, his family and his soulmate Grechen. He chooses to die and to let his family and Grechen live.

Hope it helps

An even better explanation:

In the final act Donnie figures out how to build a portal and pull the engine off his mom's return flight. We are not shown all the ways he does this, but when he does, time reverses for those 28 days, back to midnight October 2. Gretchen and Frank are alive again, the house has not burned, the teacher was not fired, the "proper" universe has been restored and the parallel universe non-existent. But the jet engine still falls at midnight, Donnie is in his bed. He has sacraficed his own life for everyone else, saving the whole world.

I thought it was pretty horrible. Any movie with Drew in it sucks since ET.

I didn't like the movie at all. And afterwards when I read about all the symbolism and stuff I still didn't like it. Way too pretentious.

If you wanna know more about it, you can read it in the reviews on imdb.com.

That song was an excellent choice for the end of the movie, that's for sure!

Thanks for the tip for Mulholland Drive doornx!
