    You won't believe this asshole.

    About a week ago our cat ran away and we started putting up posters of our cat around the neighborhood. A few people called, but to no avail.

    Today however, we got a call (private caller) from this younger guy indicating that he saw our cat in the park nearby and that she was dead, most likely to have taken a hammer to her head. We of course ran off to the park to search for her, and nothing.

    After about half an hour, the same guy calls and says if we found her. My boyfriend asks the guy where exactly and if he can wait for us. He hangs up the phone. Now we are getting suspicious. We do a #57 (which traces the phonenumber with the phone company). He calls a few times more saying how there were kids in the park throwing our cat around and so on, meanwhile we were there not five minutes ago and saw nothing.

    About 10 minutes ago he says he'll meet us at the park and show us where. Apparently he'll call and let us know when he is there, so alas.. we wait.

    This is upsetting as hell, we have been searching for our cat for the past week every day, multiple times. I am pretty upset that someone would either joke about our cat being dead, or harm the cat itself.

    This is a pretty fucked up society we live in.

                                                          When we lost our dog....everyone was more than helpful to us. No prank calls, no false leads. We put up posters and offered a reward. While out looking for her a man came up to us and asked us if we were looking for a little dog. We said yes and he told us he just saw her and tried to catch her for us. We went to the spot and after some searching we did locate her. He did not even want the reward, he was just happy that she was back where she belonged.

I talked to the kids and showed the a $100 and told them I would give it to who ever found my cat. They didn't bring him home, but came to my house every day to find out if he was home. I know they would have found him. I think the b/f I had at the time killed him.

                                                                                  The guy is an asshole but thats pretty common. Probably has nothing better to do.

                                                                                  If your cat has only been missing a week there is a good chance you will find her. I had a cat this past fall missing for over 30 days (through 2 snow storms during that time). She was a pure inside cat but they turn feral pretty quick to survive. They usualy don't go very far either. 2-3 doors down etc. Hiding under something until they get the nerve to come out. They won't respond to even your voice.

                                                                                  I lured mine in by putting food out and a warm jacket every nite. I had a few Toms around but eventualy I could see she was coming because I saw her white fur on the coat. I bought a baby monitor and put it outside by the food. Took several trys and moving the food to the garage (closing the door from the inside with a remote when I heard her) before I caught her a month later at 4am.

                                                                                      Most people in our neighborhood have been real great in calling us whenever they see a cat. But goddamn there are so many black and white cats in this neighborhood.


                                                                                      Anyhow, I am gonna take another look.

One or two such calls aren't bad if the guy's story is legit and he really did see something in the park.... but a series of upsetting calls like this? No, that's downright harrassment, and malicious harrassment at that. Get those cops to take the asshole down a few pegs for his idiocy, for his insensitivity.

Stopped and called her, she just sat there, waited for 2 go get her.

Sometimes these busybodies just grab cats and shut them up inside so they can't get out or go home.
