We do and I would like to do it more. For some reason where we live they won't recycle GREEN glass. Brown glass and clear glass yes, GREEN glass no. It sucks.

I recycle because I feel shitty about trashing our planet and I hate thinking of all the non biodegradable waste that ends up in landfills, floating on barges in the ocean, etc. It's fucking disgusting.

I only recycle my cans because i pay for it when i buy them.

Anyone that believes that the _laws_ to recycle actually are to help the earth, need to do some research. They are actually revenue generators for the giant government that a particular party has created. Same goes for emissions control. When they start taking older cars off the emissions list, it becomes plain as day of their intentions.

I recycle alluminum cans because it actually is one of the few products that can be recycled for less than it takes to make new ones, and thus is the reason why people will pay you for them.
Yard waste ends up in our compost pile, so yes I kind of recycle that.

Recycling is a must in north america. Cuts down on our massive wasting. Last city I lived in was the best for it. Had massive blue dumpsters that you threw in anything recyclable into and they sorted it. All garbage got hand sorted for batteries and such then machine sorted for metals and various other materials and composted. 70% of waste was diverted from the landfills and composted or recycled. Facitily for the composting was the size of 8 football fields.

I have a tremenduous idea and research that I conducted to back it, about dealing with the massive amounts of waste, but I doubt anyone cares enough to go for it.

Why is it a must? You also relize that recycling actually eats up more resources than it saves right?

We're only allowed one garbage can/2 garbage bags per house per week. So yeah, I recycle everything I can.

And of course I take my cans and bottles to the depot for my deposit.

It is to late in the evening for me to go do all the link research for you. So I will just do my best to give a brief synopisis.
(alluminum and glass do not apply, hence why you are paid)

Even when you presort they still resort the trash to then amass and then load onto more trucks who then drive great distances to dump at a central location. From here it is again re-trucked and sent to various vendors who then use up a considerable amount of fuel to melt it down and purify it.
When it comes to paper it is often driven way up into a nice "nature" area where it is shredded and then bleached and chemically treated. Take wild guess about the water.
So in above you can add in the cost of man power, or just figure the amount of fossil fuel that is required to move and reuse garbage.
Landfills on the other hand are not nasty icky places that leak into ground water like some people say. They are very monitored and even produce energy unlike recycling. The amount of methane most produce is mind boggling. Eventually they get
I could go on.

We recycycle. Every householder in this state has a bin provided for recyclable items that are collected every week.

To be honest - I generally keep them separate and sell them back. When I don't, it's for a purpose (generally in the winter). There's a little old asian man that comes through all our garbages every garbage day to check who hasn't recycled and he collects them and sells them. I figure he does this for money (although he doesn't look down & out) so when it's -40 outside, I make sure to make it worth his while at least
