The search function is nice to have. I suspect the main reason why it is running slow is due to the huge volume of threads that it has to go through.

Pretty quick for me. Of course not related to bandwidth, must have gotten into the server queue.

Yeah, its all about an optimized DB, or constricting the possibilities (Like only for the last year rather than forever)

its pretty slow, but better than no search at all.

To make it quicker I would just give the person searching a form to search between a certain time period, as well as their keyword, this will eliminate the need to search the entire database for something that might only be a week old.

yes, it's a bit slow but that dosnt really matters. However its alot faster if you search for a Username.

Set the default forum to just "Fucking around" and set the default time period to 1 month.
