Ok, i want a dog

Enlighten me. I know pets are NEVER low maintainace, but i actually bought a Beagle 5 years ago and i spolied him to death in the early years, so i really couldnt keep up with the little guy, so my mom adopted him... now i am looking for a new dog that would get around my place but wont die for skipping one day of a walk in the park...

I am totally dogbreed ignorant.. but i want something small to medium, loyal and easily trained to.. am i asking for too much?

Or should i just undust the Junior Chemical Kit and start working on my own breed?

Any suggestions are more than welcome! cheers!

Goodluck on your dog-hunting! A spaniel would be just fine.

I have me a Miniature Schnauzer he's three months old now. He's very protective of me and his best friend is my little cat. Very loyal dog, he's growls at anyone who tries to come into contact with me that he does not know.

sounds like you want an english bulldog.

do some research at http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/

then search your area: http://www.petfinder.org/

I would avoid any breed ending in 'terrier' if you want a low-energy friend.

Go to your local dogpound/spca and get a dog. Mutts are the best and there are so many that are on death row!

I know everyone loves a puppy but sometimes when you go to the pound and see some dogs that are a year old or so you can really tell what their personality is like.

spaniels and the like need tons of space to run around if you aren't going to walk them and Jack Russels really want running space too.

Purina do a decent breed selector page/survey at http://www.purinaone.com/dogcare_breed_selector.asp

Small to medium, smart, loyal and easily trained? A Jack Russell would be my choice.

Had him 4 weeks tomorrow, already trained him how to sit, stay, not to shit or piss on my floors, take food from my hand nice, play dead and he's no trouble at all..... Oh and he's only 13 weeks old.

Plus you won't have to go through all the potty training with a dog who's a bit older....

Shih tzus.

Lap puppies. Born and bred for it.

Not as easily trained as I would like them to be; but, if you take them out every thirty minutes, they'll train. Keep them cut and you'll never have to brush them.

They'll love you to death.

And, they don't shed.
