People started to bitch and moan about ARS sigs.

People stopped clicking on ARS sigs.

ARS lost a dickload of money.

Program closed.

Yes I complained about "ARS sig whores" and as much as some of you want to make justifications for why it was no big deal or how everybody else does this or that, nobody will convince me it wasn't abused to the point of making this board and the people on it to suffer like no other marketing gimmik before. Bullshit there weren't a lot of smilies. That is laughable. I had to wade through tons of useless drivel and smilies in almost every thread because of some of you and it wasn't just annoying but was killing this board. Maybe some of you don't want to see the reality that I see or just want to make more excuses, but the proof is in the pudding. Look at how many people put everybody with an ARS sig on their ignore list whether they were a serious poster or not. That speaks volumes.

I didn't really have a HUGE problem with it, but I did get sick of everyone bitching about it and those guilty of the mindless dribble (and yes I MEANT dribble) complaining about how "people are treating me like shit"!!!!

The things like stupid posts that had ZERO to do with anything going on in the threads other than to get a signature in are the ones that I think were on everyone's nerves. The ones that always post and actually INTERACT with others, I don't see as ever having been a problem for anyone.

Ah bullshit. Last year at this time there was no ARS sig program and virtually no one was even selling their sigs at that time and the board chugged along just fine. All this sig shit is new from where I sit. Only the useless fucktards will hopefully disappear and we can certainly do with a few less of those.

How can posting 2000 smilies or two word drivel replies in a month qualify as you being a member of the board as a participating webmaster when if the pay per post incentive is removed many of you will simply dissapear from the board entirely, so you wanted to contribute nothing to us or do any biz. here but were here to use us webmasters as simply sig impressions for your income and at the same time were sucking the life force out of this board with the useless posts in every thread to have to dig through. Of course this doesn't apply to many but is certainly topical to the pure sig whores.

Oh brother, what board have you been on all this time? Do you have short term memory or what? No one remembers Pimpdog and all of his drivel and drama for sig views? What about all the "Please donate to my boobjob" and all the fighting etc that constantly goes on here. What I do NOT like is grouping all people together...to me that is just plain wrong. I like ARS a lot. I actually got a check from them today. Although the marketing plan of paying people by the CPM was ill conceived and they even admited as much today didn't they with how people abused it. Like I said before here, when you start associating and ignoring EVERYONE because of their sig because of its association with worthless drivel posts, than that is unfortunate for the serious posters with that sig. If it was just me that would be one thing, but if you saw the threads with people's ignore lists that included everyone with an ARS sig, you would have to agree with me that it wasn't simply this person or that person but a truckload of spammers polluting threads to get cash and treating every other webmaster on this board as another sig impression to them without any regard to the aggrevation they are causing everyone else and with no other biz here than using us to get impressions by contributing only pollution to threads. Don't try to minimize this or compare it to any other stupidity here. That doesn't negate the obvious.

Hershey's right. You'd post a new thread about something, say something that might only interest a few people, and WHAMO.... you get one maybe two serious legit replies and sixteen empty useless BS comments that mean nothing at all from...... you guessed it... ARS sigwhores.

They had a good run for a few months, they ran unchecked all over the board posting like mental cases and they made a few dozen bucks a day for it. Great. But it's over now, find something else to whore with, I was a tad disappointed to see ARS becoming the new "Swoit" anyway. Swoit was a joke, but I've been an affiliate of ARS for years.

I never wanted to promote them, only one other webmaster told me that they are really good. So I said hey what the heck, I will give them a go..

A few sign ups in the first week..thought this is okay. Then looked at what my other sponsor was giving me in that same week and so the rest is history!

I totally agree with you. What makes the whole outcry about ARS even more hypocritical is that many of this board's heroes are among the worst when it comes to filling the place up with useless posts.

I don't care whether people post entertaining or business-related posts, but the vast majority are neither. You have to wonder how many would be posting here at all if they weren't trying to sell something.
