    Mainstream Sites with MASSIVE traffic...Types and Genres(Discussion)

    What kinds of mainstream sites tend to get alot of traffic in your opinion or experience...

    I know Dating sites and whatnot get alot of traffic...but what about sites like the following...

    http://www.facethejury.com

    The above sites are like Dating sites, but with a twist. They offer free memberships with more powerful features available to signups with upgraded memberships. Theres 5000 People logged in at any given time. Bandwith Hog, but fairly popular.

    http://www.htmlgoodies.com

    The above sites are webmaster resource sites. the first is a Bulletin board of mainstream webmasters, mostly newb mixed with like 7-14 advanced people who post normally. the latter is strictly informational.


    What im looking for here is for types of sites that attract LOTS of traffic. I dont care if its Targeted traffic such as a Message Board for Gearheads(cars) or informational site. I just need examples of sites that are mainstream that push Insane amount of traffic through them, or a type of site that could be applied to any genre (ie. HotOrNot, Message board, ect...) Not looking for answers like google, or yahoo...

              I don't remember the biggest one I have ever seen. Some guy went from massive size to extremely buff and amazing in a year. He has a HUUUUUUGGGEEEEE following.

                      Computer gaming sites like IGN, hardware sites like Anandtech, HardOCP, Beyond3D, Hexus... there is too many to list.

                      But The Dilly and Face The Jury are definitely smoking with traffic. I've seen people on FTJ that had over 200k posts on their forums.
