    Will terrorism kill our industry?

    Hey..

    I'm just wondering what will happen to our industry if/when the USA is hit with chem or bio or nuke weapons. I mean, people are going to be scared shitless wondering if they'll survive...porn will be the last thing on their minds!

    What do you guys think?

                  That's a good point, but I'm just curious.... How was business right after 9/11?

                  I would imagine that if a dirty bomb blows up in Denver or Chicago or Los Angeles or wherever... People would be using all their cash for gas masks and radiation suits, not porn memberships.

                                      At the risk of crinkling up my tin-foil hat, I'd suggest that a major terrorist attack WOULD spell serious trouble for the legitimate porn industry, among others that aren't in perfect alignment with hard right conservative values.

                                      I've noticed a trend lately when interviewing various governmental spooks and muckity-mucks (Perle, Rice, Rumsfeld, et alia). When asked about the reaction to a new terrorist attack, every one, without exception, suggested that nation-wide martial law would be imposed until "the crisis passed". After hearing the same message from the 4th or 5th person (each in different forums) it occured to me that the whole martial law meme was something they're deliberately trying to get into people's heads so they don't go rioting in the streets if/when it happens. They're softening the hard landing.

                                      I suspect that the 'crisis' may take a particularly long time to pass this time around, in whatever form it takes... and as a result, I'd say that either engaging or avoiding helter skelter will probably trump porn by a few orders of magnitude.

                                      Of course, if you take my idle ramblings to heart and are now starting to stock up on .308 shells and gas masks, you should seek professional

                                                                      I agree, Tommy Franks started the Martial Law talk a year ago and recently they've all been saying it. Although I find it hard to believe that it could happen without insane riots and a serious opposition from the left, and hopefully some people in the Pentagon. It would take a nuke attack, and I don't think even Bush is stupid enough to let his terrorist friends set off a nuke in the US. 100k dead people and everyone would be a family member of a victim demanding answers.
