damn thats one big spider

If you notice anything that resembles a mosquito bite but has a dark center be sure to go check it out. My daughter got bitten by a brown recluse when she was about two. It got her in bed at night I guess. It had a dark center and started oozing some liquid and I took her to the ER and they gave her a steroid shot directly into the bite. It never did get bad. It scabbed up and went away. Two weeks later another one bit her in the same exact spot like it knew where she had been bitten before. We moved the next week.

That is terrible!!

C_U_Next_Tuesday 06-06-2004 09:39 PM

Brown recluses like to hide in wood and other nice dark undisturbed places. I think I have had about every major posionous spider in my house this year. I had a black widow living in my computer room for a while till i thought about the reproduction factor.

If you must exterminate, but they dont reproduce like cock roaches and just keep an eye out for them

that one alongside the black widow are the two deadliest spiders in North America.

these are found in garages out here.

http://urbanentomology.tamu.edu/arthropods/img368.jpg

"Do not attempt to apply home first aid as a sole treatment. The widow spider along with the brown or fiddle-back spider - Loxosceles reclusa - are the two most poisonous spiders found in the United States. The brown reculse spider's bite is necrotizing and the site of the bite is very slow to heal. A complication of the brown spider's bite is DIC. Again, the black widow spider can be recognized by the red hourglass marking on its ventral side of the abdomen. The brown recluse spider is somewhat smaller (the body of the spider and its legs cover the size of a quarter) than the black widow and has a characteristic fiddle or violin marking on its back (dorsal side near the top of the spider). The brown widow spiders are easily differentiated from the brown recluse because the brown widowed spiders have a similar appearance to that of the black widows and, of course, lack the fiddle marking. The brown recluse spiders are very timid, hence the scientific species name - reclusa."

thats a good page for info on the two.

hell, I should have caught my black widow and sent her to you. she was a beauty and would come out if i remained still for a few minutes, never could get a pic of her..the minute i would make a movement in the room she would hide again. I hated killing her.. but had to think of the kids in the house. :(

If anyone cares to help me out via icq, 18287590 !!!!!!!!!! [/B]
HQ, hire an exterminator immediately. I live in Vegas and have an exterminator come to my house once per month to make sure I don't get black widdow's or brown recluse.

sinkiss 06-06-2004 10:01 PM

omg that hand pic was horrid!! that had to be sooooo painful. we have those spiders here in arkansas too and we definitely keep our house sprayed. i would get it sprayed hun, and soon as possible!!

I had them in a house I rented several years ago. One of my roommates got bit in the chest when he was putting on his shirt...had to go to the hospital, his tit swelled up, etc. Rough.

This house was in the midwest, so it might be a little different than Texas. But the exterminator guys said that the spiders move through different areas, and they would eventually leave. They gave us a bunch of sticky spider traps that smelled like peanut butter until then.

The traps did get quite a few...but we still found them in shoes and random other places. Be careful.

that is HILARIOUS

actually ....READ about them online.....I just did recently because Im living in a more rural setting these days ..and we got spiders.

Rictor 06-07-2004 12:27 AM

Get some cats man. I see a lot less spiders these days because my cats eat them all.

We've got brown recluse and black widows around here too. Brown recluse I have seen in my basement and in boxes I've brought down from the attic.

I've gotten some pretty nasty spider bites, almost always while I'm in bed. I remember one on my leg that may have been a brown recluse. The sore turned green and was filled with puss...it looked like gangrene...went away after a couple months of me popping the blisters and pouring peroxide on it 50 times a day.

Face (o_0) 06-07-2004 12:29 AM

just reading this is freaking the shit out of me...im sure i have some sort of arachnophobia...im going all paranoid

seeing them will suprise me... but im alright with it...but if one of those fuckers gets close to me i can't fucking stand it

HS-Trixxxia 06-07-2004 12:35 AM

I hate insects but spiders I normally don't bother with. After seeing these pics, I'm suddenly very itchy and my new enemy is a spider!

pure energy 06-07-2004 12:37 AM

That is a huge spidey!

Pornwolf 06-07-2004 12:42 AM

This type of stuff makes me wonder why people move waay out into the boonies? People, stay the fuck out of the woods and leave the bears, poisonous plants and poisonous spiders alone.

ModelPerfect 06-07-2004 12:44 AM

Those a nasty freakin' spiders. Necrosis sucks!
