Yeah. Maybe this is my downfall. For anyone who knows me, they know I am a big "Law and Order" fan, I studied in Criminal Justice, and the whole field intrests me.

Last night, I spent 10 hours dealing with the whole system, and needless to say I was appalled with how everything was treated.

The Medics that showed up to the scene didnt know their faces from their ass, gave us no information of what hospital to go to, and a couple of them were cracking jokes out front. I was the one to call the Hospital and ask which one was the right one to go to.

The Hospital's front entrance was closed so we had to walk two blocks down a venue to find another entrance just to find a cardboarded wall saying it was closed for construction. We eventually slammed open an "Emergency Exit" door to get in.

The woman at the front desk was tired, bitchy, and refused to give us service and had us wait for 15 minutes till we had any contact with anyone *mind you this is the Emergency room* and no it wasnt busy.

Once my friend was walked to another room, I was placed in another room and was left alone for an hour and a half until anyone came in to give me an update.

A guy from Metro came in, and already type-casted my friend, and believed he know how it went down, where my friend wasnt a victim. He refused to give me any information as to what happened, just the fact that "theres a lot of holes in it" and "if she keeps up the way she's acting she is going to get herself killed." He then tells me about women who were found dead underneath an overpass a couple weeks back. What the fuck.

The detectives came in, talked to my friend in the other room, then bolted for the door. Fortunately, I managed to reach them, and not only were they giving me short answers, they obviously didnt give a rats ass about finding out what happened. One guy was literally shifting his weight and continually looking at his watch, while the other guy was just reluctant to tell me anything, saying "if she didnt want to make a statement, theres nothing we can do"

One again, it was more and more waiting. No one wanted to tell me anything. When I went up every hour to get an update it was as if I was making more work for them. I was livid.

Anyways, I needed to vent about this. Today has been a crap day and my faith in the Justice system has diminished.

Someone very close to me was raped, and this is how they treated her. No wonder women would rather forget about it then go to the Police.

Why wouldn't she make a statement?

But yeah, the justice system sucks. Only reason I have faith in it is I got off from a 3 year sentence because of a total fuck up in the court records. They didn't even know what they were judging me for up there.

The judge couldn't even get the damn date of the offense right, he had no idea he was letting a felon off the hook

She made a statement to the Metro cop that came in. My friend said the detectives were badgering her as to going back to where the event took place, and she wasnt able to handle it at that time. I'm not saying my friend is right, but they treated her as if she deserved this.

If she doesn't want to make a statement, there isn't a lot they can do about it, and if you know law you should also know that they can't disclose info to someone that is just a "friend."

It should also be pointed out that while I have never seen the tv show, tv and reality rarely have much in common.

I am more then just "a friend". I have rights to know.

I know TV and reality is completly different, its just being so involved in the TV portion and the book portion and never having experienced it in real life.

Well, detectives came out.

She doesnt know who raped her. There is a chance she was drugged previous to the attack. We'll find out in 2-4 days from the blood sample.

Half the girls I know have been raped at some point. It's sad but true. The vast majority of the time the girls don't press charges. One it's incredibly hard to prove and two they don't want many people knowing.

Just be sure she gets tested for all the regular diseases. Sorry but I doubt you'll ever get the guy. Especially if she was drugged, that would make her account unreliable and hurt her case more than anything.

Take the law into your own hands is my advice

Its sad that what we see on TV is so professional. We see people that we respect doing those jobs...

But in reality we have underpayed people who don't give a shit about anything and anyone but themselves.

I understand this happens all the time, but this is the first time something like this has happened to someone so close to me. I just expected things to be a little more "routine" then how it was treated, thats all.
