Marcomedia Dreamweaver is absolutely the best one. You can control the code easier than with Frontpage.

Well, that's my two marks about that.

Oh yeh, I forgot to answer the question...

Dreamweaver is by far the best out there...I started in this game doing code the long, hard, boring way...graduated to wysiwyg...used a ton of them, frontpage is easy to use but makes HORRIBLY messy html and automatically did shit to the code that pissed me off....DW simply rocks...takes like 30-45 minutes to get used to if you're slow like myself

Hey Jimmy.... I make an OK living writing HTML in notepad and in homesite. If you rely on WYSIWYG's, you're undoubtedly missing out on so many things html can do that your program doesn't have a click-button for.

Heh-heh-heh... and yes, I still know how to start fires with sticks, too. AND some of the best food I've ever eaten was prepared over an open fire. Steaks.... *drool*

I like to use frontpage for getting a layout done fast but homesite is much cleaner and for edits I just use notpad...

Frontpage licks....
Use Allaire Homestite 4.5 .
Allaires Coldfusion Studio is a sick editor allowing for direct server edits....And of coarse custom tags. No download and uploading hassles when dealing with emergency
edits...

I use notepad - but if you HAVE to use a WYSIWYG use Homesite. It allows you the most control from what I have seen. But stay away from the 'design mode' because it does some weird shit.

Frontpage is almost as shitty as Netscape Composer in my opinion!

I have actually used pico to edit html in the past, it has some cool features...

where frontpage kills me is when I do java mouseover inserts. Whether I manually add the script (which is better) or use the dhtml inserts, it seems to want to erase my code, fortunately I have only a few page I use this on

FrontPage 2000 is one of the best editors I've found, if there are any specialized JAVA inserts, I just do em afterwords in notepad. Usually FP handles them okay.

I use HomeSite too...Whoo Hoo! If I get really desperate, I might open up Front Page 2000's pre-made page just to see how something is done, but I like clean, pretty code....not all that stuff FP tends to add.

And I have programmed back in the dark ages (1992) on Geocities equivelant of notepad....
