Netscape
I use IE to surf the web etc. but I use Netscape to check my @home emails. I must say Netscape is just a useless fucking program. I tried the new N 6.0 OMG is that a slow browser. I talked to a tech that told me that for N 6.0 just to be open sucks a bunch of your ram.
Stay away from the new 6.0 If anyone needs Netscape 4.76, just let me know. Wizard |

Hey Wizard, you are ABSOLUTELY right about the new Netscape 6.0, it totally blows. It looks nice, but when you start using it, it's HORRIBLE. You can't do all of the cut and pasting that you usually do, the email setup sucks. I'm back to using my 4.76 version, which is pretty good. I'll agree with you though, everyone should stay away from Netscape 6.
I should start using my IE more. I use it every now and then and some pages look much better in IE, but I'm just hooked on the old Netscape. Slick |

Have you used Opera? It's pretty decent, loads pretty fast, and is supposed to be 100% compliant with HTML standards. I think it's a good browser to use to check coding. If it works in Opera, it's gonna pretty much work in any browser.

Sixfm,
well I have found out that if I design with nutscape in mind. It will work in all other browsers. many times I have designed for opera and then checked it in nutscape. It didn't look good. So now I do it the other way and it looks the same in both ------------------ Thumper The Amatuer next door! |

Of course Netscape will suck, it's own by AOL. But if you want a browser that does not suck, then grab the Mozilla source code. http://www.mozilla.org

Netscape is a fantastic program and gets way underrated in my opinion. Their bookmarks, which I use like non other (my bookmark file is literally 300k), are a million times better than IE's foolish favorites system.
I must agree, however, that 6.0 is a buncha bullshit and is slow as hell. |

Yeah MaestroJJP is right also about IE, I HATE the way that IE sets up their bookmarks on the left side of the screen, that's a pain in the ass.

Everyone try OPERA! Once you're used to
it, it's the best browser! |

I use Netscape for browsing and Internet Explorer for checking sites for acceptance to my TGP. Netscape is easily shut down by javascript errors and pop-ups, but IE doesn't show graphics as well as Netscape.

Awesome! I'm tired of coding for 2 browsers. If more people would use IE and just forget about Nutscape it'd be easier to do.
One thing I really miss about Nutscape is it's bookmarks. Damn. I remember just being able to find something dug DEEP within my bookmarks by just hitting Control-B / Control-F / "keyword". Now with IE you gotta play this dumb fucking game of folder navigation. Want a quick fix? What I do is continuously export my favorites to a netscape bookmark file, and shortcut that bookmark file on my "Links" that way, you just click on the bookmark icon once, and boom, you're in bookmark.htm |

Hazen, that's a good idea, but for people with huge-ass bookmark files like me, that isn't an option really. If IE had a better favorites system, I'd probably use it, because, since it's integrated with windows anyway, it would prob be a bit faster.
Netscape is the way to go for many, many things, and more people use it than most think. |
