Microsoft: No additional licensing for backup servers

Intended to enhance the current licensing options under the Microsoft Software Assurance Program, Microsoft has announced that no additional software licensing is needed to run MS server products on machines used as part of server emergency plans. This is good news for businesses that shelf backup servers as a part of their disaster recovery programs. The Software Assurance Program usually costs an additional 25% of the software purchase price. The program adds value to licensing MS products buy allowing for free upgrades, payment plans and in some cases, training materials.

That and them offering their source code up to govts and big corps to audit and/or modify is just them trying to grasp for air with all these huge class-action lawsuits floating around.

That and im sure *ix OSs have taken a nice chunk of their users.

microsoft must be fealing the pinch from linux in the server market.

i was hoping linux would catch on more in the PC market, but windows is a tough nut to crack
